After this application is complete: Kenvale College will process the Smart and Skilled enrolment using the Smart and Skilled eligibility criteria as a guide to determine the applicant’s eligibility for the training program that has been applied for. An “Smart and Skilled Enrolment Welcome Letter” will be issued to the successful applicant with the descriptions, delivery modes and dates of training.

What is the Unique Student Identifier (USI)?

The Unique Student Identifier is an individual’s education number for life, creating an online record of training attainments in Australia. The USI is supported by Commonwealth legislation, the Student Identifiers Act 2014. Australian education or training providers must submit an annual record of the nationally recognised training they deliver to the national VET collections. As part of that collection, a USI is assigned to each training recipient and acts to link together their individual training records across different providers, states and years.

Your education number for life 

Your USI (Unique Student Identifier) is your individual education number for life. It also creates an online record of your Australian training achievements.

You need a USI if you are: undertaking Nationally Recognised Training a higher education student seeking Commonwealth financial assistance (eg a HECS-HELP loan) a higher education student graduating in 2023 or beyond.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an evidence-based, equitable, and transparent process that assesses prior learning and/or experience, resulting in course credit, which exempts a student from enrolment in a particular subject. The College recognises the value of prior learning and experience. All students who attend the College are entitled to apply for RPL for the course in which they are enrolled. All applications will be assessed equitably and fairly by the College.

Students can also apply for a Credit Transfer (CT) for studies in Hospitality, Cookery or Events which can be credited against studies at Kenvale College.

Applications must be lodged at least 1 week before the Census Date for that academic period or they cannot be processed for the current trimester. It is therefore in your interest to submit your completed application as early as possible. If you are currently enrolled in the unit(s) for which you are seeking RPL or CT, you should consult the Academic Director BEFORE the census date for that academic period.

PLEASE NOTE: First Aid Certificates do not expire, but need to be updated every 3 years to remain valid and current. However, if you hold either a HLT003 or HLT011 Frst Aid Certificate, this will be recognised credited toward your course.

PLEASE NOTE: You should not repeat courses at approved training providers to renew your card while it is still current, as they will not extend your card. Refer to Liquor & Gaming.

PLEASE NOTE: FSS certificates expire 5 years from the date of issue. The expiry date is printed on each certificate. To be issued with a new FSS certificate, FSS certificate holders are required to renew their training at an approved RTO. Kenvale College is an approved RTO.  Refer to Food Authority.
