2023 Idaho Mock Trial Competition

Registration is Open from September 12 to December 20, 2022
Please note: Mock Trial registration fees are non-refundable.
The Idaho Mock Trial Competiton is open to students in grades 9 to 12 from all public and private schools and home school groups.

Teams must be registered and and all fees paid before the final registration deadline. Teams will receive their case materials once their registration fees have been paid in full.

The following fees cover the cost of participation:
- Team Registration: $250 per team
- Courtroom Artist Contest (Optional): $30 per artist
If you have any questions or your school is having difficulty paying the full registration fee and want to discuss the possibility of reduced mock trial fees, contact Carey Shoufler.
Competition Dates
Regional Competitions

Regional competitons will take place as outlined below:
- February 4 : Eastern Idaho
- February 25 : North Idaho
- March 4 : Treasure Valley

State Competition: March 15 to 17, 2022

The top 12 to 16 teams will qualify to participate in the state competion. There will be four quarterfinal rounds that all teams will participate in: two quarterfinal rounds on Wednesday, March 15 and two quarterfinal rounds on Thursday, March 16. The top two teams after four rounds will advance to the State Championship Round on the morning of Friday, March 17.

There is no cap on the number of teams or courtroom artists a school or group can register. Each team must have between 6 to 9 students.

The Courtroom Artist Contest allows artistically talented students the opportunity to participate in the mock trial program. Artists observe trials and submit sketches that depict actual courtroom scenes.

Note that if you are still deciding whether your team will include an artist there is a separate registration form you can fill out at a later date.
