Dance in Focus is a partnership between the Brooklyn Academy of Music and Drew University. Students will attend several weekly workshops led by dynamic BAM dance teaching artists/ choreographers, emerging choreographers, and some of the most prominent choreographers presented on BAM's main stages. These workshops include the opportunity to attend BAM main stage shows. All workshops will be held on BAM's campus.
Dance in Focus provides a space for high school-aged dancers to explore, experience, and expand their understanding critical elements of dance (technique, terminology, alignment, history, choreographic devices, etc.), process, and critical response to realize pathways that cultivate holistic artistic development for young artists and practitioners. This program aims to create holistic artistic spaces for young adults to engage, share, and exchange through artistic and academic mentorship and cross learning.
