In our intermediate and advanced level dance classes, students will learn three dance styles, ballet, jazz and hip hop. Students will learn and expand on the foundations of dance and body posture with ballet. They connect to rhythm and a tell a story with their bodies in hip hop. Jazz allows students to combine the foundations of ballet and the rhythm and storytelling of hip hop into one smooth, funky routine.
Our intermediate classes are for students in middle school, ages 12-14. Our Advanced classes are for students in high school, ages 15-19. Observations will occur the first few weeks of class to ensure appropriate class placement. Whether this will be your student’s first time dancing, or if they have danced for years, all are welcome here!
Students will display their skills in a spectacular, year ending recital in partnership with the YMCA of Greater Charleston. Intermediate and Advanced level classes are taught by Ms. Jameshia, Mr. Alshaun, Ms. Kris Kaylin Bennett and Demetria McNeil.
All classes are held in the dance room at Burke High School in the Linard McCloud Fine Arts building. School Address: 244 President St. Charleston, SC 29403 Please enter the campus through the Sumter Street side, directly opposite of President St.
