  • Intro to Linocut

    Instructor - Eveline Kolijn

    1 Day Workshop

    October 2, 2022

    10:00am - 4:00pm

    Learn all the skills necessary to draw, carve and print a linocut with the amazing Eveline Kolijn! Students will also cover hand printing on thin Japanese paper and printing with the press on thick rag paper will be demonstrated. (For students with some experience, additional techniques for carving and tips for multicolour printing will be shared if desired. Experienced students can come to this course with a personal project on which they would like guidance from the instructor in order to complete it.)

    The instructor will cover: 

    • Focus on different carving tools and the marks they make.
    • Transferring a drawing onto linoleum
    • Even inking of block; including gradient colour
    • Hand printing on thin paper
    • Printing with etching press$

    $125.00, All supplies included, prices not subject to GST.

    Class limited to 8 Participants

    Participants Age Group: Adults 18 year of age or older

    Participant Experience Level: Beginner

     

    Instructor Bio

     

    Eveline Kolijn is a printmaker and installation artist living and working in Calgary. She received an MA in cultural anthropology from the Leiden University in the Netherlands in 1986 and a BFA from the Alberta College of Art + Design in 2008 including the Governor General’s Award for academic achievement. She has participated in national and international exhibitions and residencies, public art projects and community engagement. She has been published in various scientific publications. She is an instructor at the Alberta University of the Arts School of Continuing Education. In 2018, she joined the Energy Futures Lab as a Fellow and in 2019, she received the AUArts Alumni Legacy award.

  • Cancellation Policy

    If you have registered for an in-studio class or workshop at A/P but are unable to attend, we require that you notify us as soon as possible, and no later than 7 days before the class or workshop to receive a full refund. Registrants who cancel with 6 days or less notice will receive 50% of their registration fee. Once the class or workshop has begun, A/P is unable to issue a refund as we are subject to a minimum enrolment in order to run. If A/P cancels a course due to low enrolment, notice will be given at least 5 days in advance with a full refund issued.

  • This workshop includes all project supplies, students are recommended to:

    • Students can bring any image or sketch - 5”x7” is ideal.
    • Arrive no more than 10 minutes before class.
    • Park in the stalls located in front of A/P or use free street parking.
    • Bring a lunch and water bottle.
    • Bring a notebook/sketchbook and pen.
    • Bring reading glasses if you need them for fine work.
    • Wear suitable clothing for working with art supplies
    • Wear close toed shoes and avoid overly loose long sleeves.

    Participant Age:

    This in-person program is for adults of 18 years of age or over.

    Studio Safety Orientations

    • During your first class of this workshop, you will be provided a thorough studio safety orientation, which will include an overview of basic WHMIS and SDS information that is relevant to your safe use of the space and materials used during your workshop.
