    Applications for the Medical Laboratory Technology Program will be accepted between August 1-November. No changes may be made to the application once it is submitted. I understand that completion of this application is a component of the student profile and does not in itself grant admission to the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. I understand a new application must be submitted if I am not selected and wish to reapply. I certify that the information given in this application is true and correct. I understand that providing false information may be deemed sufficient reason to dismiss the student and/or to refuse admission. All application materials become the property of Coastal Alabama Community College. It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the Nursing and Allied Health Department has received all of the requested documentation. If applying for another health program, documentation must be provided with each application. All information must be submitted by the appropriate deadline or the application will be considered incomplete. It is recommended that applicants check with the Admissions Office, at (251) 580-2111, to confirm active status and confirm all transcripts are on file and up to date.   • Minimum Admission Standards

  • 1. Have unconditional admission to the College and be an active student in good standing (minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA). 

    2. Submit transcripts from all colleges/schools attended (including high school) to the registrar or admissions by program application deadline.

    3. Submit a completed Medical Laboratory Technology Program application by stated deadline.

    4. Have completed, or be in the process of completing, and hold a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in the prerequisite academic courses: English Composition I (ENG 101), Mathematical Applications (MTH116) or higher-level Math such as MTH 100 or MTH 112, Principles of Biology (BIO103), and General Psychology (PSY 200) or Human Growth and Development (PSY 210). A minimum grade of a ‘C’ is required for all courses in the Medical Laboratory Technology curriculum.

    5. Submit ACT score (no minimum required).

  • Points are awarded for the ACT composite score. The applicant’s ACT results must be attached to this application to receive extra points if an official ACT composite score is not recorded on the student’s OneACCS account. There is no expiration date on ACT for this program application.

  • APPLICATION DEADLINE:
    October 1 – November 15. All applications must be received by the end of the business day on the last date of application in order to be considered. Please note the college closes at 1:30 pm on Fridays.

    When will students be notified of admittance?
    Letters are emailed to applicants via the Coastal Alabama student email address on file within 4 weeks of the application deadline notifying whether or not the applicant is accepted into the Medical Laboratory Technology Program. Please wait the entire 4-week period after the application deadline before contacting the Nursing and Allied Health office regarding the status of an application.

    If accepted into the program, students will be asked to submit immunization records, a copy of CPR certification, proof of medical insurance, a drug screen, a background check, and a physical exam documenting the ability to meet essential eligibility
    criteria.
