  • Page 2: Checking your Bachelor Degree or Equivalent

  • In this section, we will check some key points for your eligibility.

We remind you that EGEI is opened to students who have got (or will get by the end of the current academic year) a bachelor or equivalent, with enough economics

The diploma that you must provide for applying to EGEI must be a bachelor. If you have more (e.g. a master), you must first provide information on your bachelor studies. Then, you will be allowed to provide extra information on your master studies.

We will first check the availability of documents on your studies

Then, we will check whether the type of cursus that you have followed makes you eligible to EGEI.

  • Please read the paragraph before going on

  • You must provide a transcript. As long has you do not have a transcript, you are not eligible

  • The official language of the master EGEI is English so that, normally, we only accept documents in English. However, knowing the difficulties students may face, we are ready to make exceptions for Latin and Germanic languages.

Please try to have a English translation of your transcript or a version of your transcript with enough English for the transcript to be understood by an English reader.

  • As long as you do not have an English translation of your transcript by a certified translator, you are not eligible

  • We are sorry. As long as you are not able to provide your diploma, you are not eligible.

  • When submiting, you will have to provide both the original diploma and the certified English translation

  • We are sorry, but you have to provide both your original diploma and its certified translation into English

Failing to meet this condition implies that you are not eligible

  • We recommend you to provide an official list of the courses you are following during the current academic year, particularly if your transcript does not provide this information. You will upload it as an extra document describing your cursus. You can also provide an Internet link.

If you are not providing this information, you are at risk of not being well evaluated, as we do not know all the courses you will have followed upon completion of your degree.

  • We are sorry, but you are not eligible

For being eligible, you must have graduated at the time the new academic year starts for EGEI, and then 31 August at the latest.

  • Now, we will check whether the type of cursus that you have followed makes you eligible to EGEI.

Please remind that EGEI is a Master in Economics. It does not imply that we enroll students with a Bachelor in Economics only. Other students are welcome, provided they had enough courses in economic analysis and methods for being able to follow our courses.

We assess this requirement using two main conditions, that are compulsory for being eligible.

The first condition is that you must have followed at least one course in:

    • Microeconomics
    • Macroeconomics
    • Econometrics or similar (ex. advanced statistics or quantitative methods)

The second condition is that the total volume or the courses you followed in economic analysis and methods must be one semester at least.

By courses in economic analysis and methods we mean courses developping economic concepts, economic methods, and tools that are used by economists. For example:

    • A course on economic geography or on spatial economics is a course in economic analysis, a course on the economy of your country is not a course in economic analysis
    • A course on industrial economics or on the economics of regulation is a course in economics analysis, a course on the industrial structure of your country or on the rules prevailing in the industry of your country is not a course in economic analysis
  • A key course is missing, implying that you are not eligible

  • You do not have enough economics for being eligible

  • You are unlikely to have enough economics for being eligible. However, we allow you to pursue, as it may be true that, after a closer look to your application, we find that you are eligible

  • You are likely to be eligible.

However, you must keep in mind that this is a preliminary check and that the final decision on eligibility is the responsability of the Enrollment Committee, after a closer look at your application

  • Please go to the next page

  • Page 3: Checking the Other Optional Degree

  • Without a transcript or with a transcript that we are unable to read, we will be unable to evaluate your extra diploma and then it is not useful to provide it

  • The official language of the master EGEI is English so that, normally, we only accept documents in English. However, knowing the difficulties students may face, we are ready to make exceptions for Latin and Germanic languages.

An English translation of your transcript or a version of your transcript with enough English for the transcript to be understood by an English reader will be helpful, if you can provide it

  • Without a diploma or with a diploma that we are unable to read, we will be unable to know whether you have graduated or not from that extra cursus

  • The official language of the master EGEI is English so that, normally, we only accept documents in English. However, knowing the difficulties students may face, we are ready to make exceptions for Latin and Germanic languages.

An English translation of your diploma or a version of your diploma with enough English for the diploma to be understood by an English reader will be helpful, if you can provide it
