For coaches who have not attended the Pathways or Feedback Workshops, please contact nada.emad@soliya.net with any questions. If you are not yet a coach, the new coach application call will open in June 2026.

Coaching in action - Scenarios

Please read the scenarios and then follow the instructions listed under "Task for applicant"
Scenario 1

It's week 5, the group is having a discussion on Black Lives Matter and the George Floyd incident. Participant A shares that this happened only due to a procedure that needs to be taken by the police from time to time, and it wasn't intentional. Participant B, who is black American, gets so emotional saying a soul has been taken and that needs to be treated with empathy. To which participant A responds: “I understand what you are saying, but I am just speaking evidence.”
Task for applicant: As a facilitator, tell us what interventions you would make and why?*
Scenario 2

One of the facilitators you are supporting contacts you and tells you they are frustrated with their co-facilitator. The issue cited is a lack of communication on the part of their co-facilitator. The disgruntled co-facilitator says their co-facilitator struggles with managing the room, and they are not picking up on key dynamics in sessions.
Task for applicant: 1. Please share your immediate interpretation of the situation (as a coach); 2. Draft a response to the disgruntled co-facilitator.*
Scenario 3

You are observing a session and notice the group discussion is being primarily led by the facilitators, with minimal interaction between participants themselves.
Task for applicant: Write a sample feedback paragraph to the facilitators, addressing this dynamic.*
