Liturgy Planning: Simple Diocesan Eucharist

The following general guidelines are meant to help the clergy and leadership of host congregations and Diocesan Organizations as they set up for the gatherings and plan for the service.

Scripture Readings: The Bishop or Canon to the Ordinary will confirm the readings with the host church prior to the liturgy. The Calendar of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP 19-30) is observed, in which case the propers appropriate to the day will be used. The readings for the Weekdays of Advent and Christmas until the Baptism of Christ, the Readings for the Weekdays of Lent, and the Readings for the Weekdays of Easter Season from Lesser Feasts and Fasts 2006 will be used during those seasons. At other times the Two Year Daily Eucharistic Lectionary, which is likewise found in Lesser Feasts and Fasts 2006 will provide the readings for the service. Readers/Lectors: The Diocesan Organization or Congregation hosting the event should arrange for readers.

Eucharistic Prayer. The service is generally Rite II, but the Rite and the Eucharistic Prayer will be chosen at the discretion of the celebrant.
