  • Music Kids follows the BVSD Weather Cancelations.  There is no make-up for serious weather or if the center is closed.

  • Music Kids is based on the Orff Schulwerk method of musical education. This approach focuses on improvisation, use of body percussion and vocal expression. Through song and movement, children begin to learn how to match pitch, experience a steady beat and sing together. Using drums and assorted percussion instruments, children develop the ability to recognize and play rhythmic patterns. Music Kids  teaches numerous musical skills while having a lot of fun, offering a variety of musical activities that are seasonal, educational, and meet the different learning types children. The goal is kids bubbling over with a delight in music. Singing, moving, grooving, playing, laughing, exploring instruments, sounds, expressions while teaching the basic concepts appropriate to young children: loud - soft, starting - stopping, high - low pitch, and discovering that music is what feelings sound like.
Each Music Kids class engages children in a myriad of different musical actives through the use of the body, percussion instruments, puppets, drums, rhythm sticks, shaky eggs, parachutes, and movement. It is a lot of fun!

Music Kids classes teach basic concepts of music and song: pattern recognition, rhythm and keeping a beat, volume dynamics and vocal control, tempo, pitch, melody, rhyme, and structure. Classes use music to teach age appropriate bench mark skills specifically designed for each age group.  Pre-reading skills, color recognition, numbers and counting skills, spatial awareness, matching and grouping, passing, cooperation, and self expression are a few critical concepts taught in class.

All instruments, teaching props and materials are included in the subscription prices. There are no additional costs or fees.
