The rules, conditions and procedure of burial are established by The Islamic Center of Nashville - Funeral and Cemetery Services (“ICN ''), which are set according to the Holy Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH.).
The Rules, conditions and procedures of burial are as follows:
- Total amount due is to be paid before burial services begin.
- The burial procedure must be led by ICN’s Imam and funeral representatives.
- The deceased shall be a resident of the Greater Nashville Area.
- The deceased shall be buried eight (8’) feet deep with an impermeable plastic bag.
- No casket or any form of boxes shall be used to bury the deceased.
- Graves must not be raised above the established ground level. This includes restrictions on the use of cement or brick to raise the grave. No enclosures of any kind are permitted around graves. This includes coping, curbing, fences, hedges, ditches, or gravel. The erection of tombs or mausoleums on any grave is not allowed.
- Headstones are allowed. Gray granite flat headstones must conform to the dimensions of 24” (L) x 12” (W) x 4” (H) and must be installed flush with the ground level. The headstone may include the name, date of birth, date of death of the deceased, and grave identification (e.g., B123). All inscriptions must be plain and non-fancy. No pictures, Qur’anic verses, hadith, supplications, poetry, or prose are allowed on the headstone.
