As a resident of Serving Institute Residential Center, I understand and agree to the following:
- I will not possess any drugs, alcohol, or mood/mind altering substances. This includes non-alcoholic beer or wine. Management must be notified immediately in writing of any prescription medications, or changes thereof. Mouthwash or medications with alcohol are not allowed. Only over-the-counter medication that is on the “Safe List” may be KOP and consumed. *Alcohol or drug use is grounds for immediate termination, and removal from the residence; at such time, a recommendation for a higher level of care may be made. You will NOT be refunded any portion of your deposit.*
- I agree to take random drug/alcohol tests when requested by recovery residence house management. Refusal, failure to take the test within 30 minutes, or a positive test will result in immediate dismissal from the residence with a recommendation for a higher level of care.
- I agree to follow any aftercare recommendations, rules of probation, COC instructions, etc.
- I will notify Serving Institute Residential Center management anytime there are concerns or questions about yourself, your roommates, or the living environment. We are here to support you.
- I agree that I will not participate in another community member’s disease by not keeping secrets about chemical use, rule violations, or destructive behaviors. I further agree to notify Serving Institute Residential Center Management if I suspect any of the above. I understand that failure to do so on my part may result in disciplinary action or discharge.
- I agree to attend the any house meetings.
- I will work, attend school, or do a combination of these things, which consist of a full day’s activities (40 hours/week). Recovery will be my #1 priority above all else (work, relationships, etc.) Residents are encouraged to seek employment during normal, daytime hours (9-5). Residents are expected to have employment or a full time work schedule (minimum 30 hours) within 14 days of admission.
- Residents are expected to be out of bed by 8 a.m. and out of the residence from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. during the normal work week (Monday - Friday) unless otherwise cleared with House management. Curfew is 9pm (7 nights per week) for all residents in their first 30 days. After 30 day probationary period the curfew is 10pm.
- I understand that violence or threats of violence, emotional or physical, will not be tolerated and are grounds for immediate dismissal and legal action.
- I will not bring weapons into the community - including stored in a vehicle.
- A visitor pass will be obtained 24 hours prior to visit. Visitors are only allowed in the common areas of the house and at no time will enter any bedroom. Any female visitor must be immediate family (eg., wife, sister, daughter, mother...) If you want to visit your girlfriend/significant-other, please take them to dinner and a movie, NOT Serving Institute Residential Center
- There will be NO gambling, lending or borrowing of money, or payments for any services rendered. (eg., laundry, cleaning,...)
- I agree to let someone in my community and/or management know where I am at all times.
- I will not go into environments such as bars, lounges, etc.
- I will, at all times, respect the other members of the house in regard to noise, eating, cleaning, personal space, personal possessions and common living areas.
- I understand that each residence is a working environment and that I will be expected to assist in the daily activities required to allow the home to run smoothly. This means that I will be responsible for helping with the chores and housekeeping duties. I will be expected to do my fair share. Each community is encouraged to devise a cleaning schedule/division of labor in their community meetings.
- I understand that my bedroom is to be clean and my bed made every day.
- I will not place my feet on furniture or sleep on the couches.
- No storage space is available at Serving Institute Residential Center beyond what can fit neatly in one’s bedroom.
- I understand that residences are subject to inspections and searches at random, and that failure to maintain a clean living environment may jeopardize my Stay.
- Serving Institute Residential Center is NOT responsible for losses or theft of personal property, including: money, jewellery, clothing, etc. Stealing will result in immediate termination and possible legal action. Serving Institute Residential Center cannot be responsible for items remaining at the house after a resident has left for any reason. Every reasonable effort will be made to safeguard these items for a period of 48 hours, at which time they will be donated to the house or another charity.
- At no time am I allowed in another resident’s room, for any reason! All conversations, activities, visiting, etc. is to be done in the common areas. There are no exceptions! I f I do not live in a particular room, I do not go there.
- I agree not to lend money, cars, and/or jewellery to my peers unless processed in the community meeting.
- I understand that smoking is only allowed in the designated outside area behind the house and all butts will be placed in appropriate containers.
- I will be fully dressed in the common areas at all times.
- No pets!
- No halogen lamps, candles, or incense,
- When I move out of Serving Institute Residential Center I will give at least 7 day notice. I will clean the room and prepare it for the next resident.
- I understand that I am required to participate in resident activities and groups outside of employment requirements. Failure to participate in group and activities will disqualify me from further consideration for residency.
- I understand that I am required to be employed, actively seek employment or serve as a full time volunteer. Failure to do so will disqualify me from further consideration for residency.
An infraction of these rules will be noted to file and disciplinary action up to Discharge taken!
