  • BEHAVIOR STANDARDS

By enrolling your child(ren) in a SOPA activity you are agreeing to hold your child responsible for the following STUDENT BEHAVIOR POLICIES. Please read carefully.

    • Unnecessary talking and distractions during workshops, camps, class, rehearsals, or performances is not permitted.
    • Students should respect those in authority such as class instructors or any adult (SOPA staff or parents) as well as other students.
    • SOPA expects students’ conduct to be respectful of the property and therefore, any damage done to a property will be expected to be replaced or repaired by the student.
    • Honoring language must be used. Name-calling, gossip, slander, and profanity will not be tolerated.
    • SOPA expects purity of self in relationships with others and one's own body. Therefore, drugs, alcohol, or smoking are strictly prohibited inside of SOPA facilities, in the parking lot and at any and all events or locations where SOPA students/families may be present.
    • Inappropriate physical contact is inappropriate at SOPA activities. This includes holding hands, kissing, and "couples" isolating themselves from the group.
    • SOPA expects students to dress appropriately and modestly (no bare midriffs, spaghetti straps, or short shorts please.)
    • Students must stay in designated areas and may not leave the facility.
    • Food is only to be eaten in designated areas which will vary from site to site. (No tree nuts, peanuts or cinnamon will be allowed on campus due to severe allergies.)
    • Students are not permitted to be on their cell phones during class/camp/rehearsal time. No sharing of screens with other students.
    • Students may not exchange phone numbers/personal contact information with instructors unless expressely permitted by parents and SOPA staff.
    • Professional behavior is expected: Be on time. Be prepared. No unnecessary absences.
    • Attendance is required at all mandatory rehearsals unless otherwise specified. Conflicts must be stated in advance of casting. Adding conflicts may result in being removed from participation.
    • SOPA wants students to do their best. We believe that God will do good work in their lives. Lack of adherence to the above policies may result in expulsion from workshop, class, camp or from the show, and may affect future SOPA participation.

  • SOPA's Health and Safety Protocol

  • Due to the nature of Musical Theater activities, we ENCOURAGE all participants who are unwell (even with allergies), to continue to protect themselves and others by  staying home, taking time to rest and social distancing, but this is a personal decision.

    KNOW before you GO!
    How are you feeling today?
    Ask your kids before class!

    Health Screening at Home:

    1. Have you been fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications for the last 24 hours?
    2. Have you had any unusual respiratory distress including cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, or chills in the past 24 hours?
    3. Do you have an active COVID 19 or Influenza case?
  • Known Exposure: Any student (regardless of vaccination status) who has been in direct contact with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 5 days must test negative before returning to workshops, classes, camps, shows.

If you suspect that you or anyone in your household has Influenza or COVID-19, please refrain from attending workshops, classes, camps or rehearsals and communicate with the SOPA Leadership (info@shineonperformingarts.org).

If a SOPA student becomes sick:
Please assess your child's health before each workshop, class, camp or performance as much as possible. If your child is sick, please do not bring them to campus. If your child becomes sick with a fever over 100.0°, or other symptoms, or any other virus or infection, which cause concern while at a SOPA event, SOPA will isolate your child, under adult supervision, and call for a parent to come and pick them up.

    Please note:
These are measures designed to mitigate risks of spreading germs and containing them if they are present, but there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of germs spreading in a live workshop/class/camp/rehearsal environment. It will take an effort from all students, campers, staff, and families to be vigilant with their personal health outside of classes, rehearsals and camps so that we can avoid, as much as possible, inadvertently bringing any virus, COVID-19 or otherwise, into our SOPA space.
