Program Commitment

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the SC Crew. We appreciate your desire to join us and make a positive impact on the lives of teens with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Before you proceed with the application, please read this commitment section thoroughly to understand our requirements.

As an SC Crew Mentor, you will need to: Be at least 24 years old.
- Complete the SC Crew Mentor interview
- Undergo a screening process that includes four references, and a background check.
- Finish the SC Crew Mentor training.
- Attend the SC Crew Meet Ups once a month on Saturdays.
- Contact your assigned mentee(s) once a week for a minimum of one year (with an option to recommit at the end of the year).
- Reach out to parents once a quarter to discuss the mentee's progress in the program.
- Be available for conference calls with Program Directors and Coordinators.
