    Policy overview

    • All visitors and contractors must be supplied with this document.
    • All visitors must call your MacNabb Waste contact or the office (02844842248) when you arrive on site and they will sign the visitor’s book for you to indicate acceptance of the requirements of this policy.
    • Any contractor working on-site must be an approved contractor and may require a permit to work as appropriate for each day on-site.

    Site operating hours

    Monday-Friday: 08:00-16:30

    Saturday:          08:00-12:00

    Anyone wishing to visit or work outside of these hours must get permission from the site supervisor (Eugene Curran), MD (Vincent MacNabb or HSEQ manager (Conaill MacNabb).

    All site visits must have an appointment organised prior to arriving on site.

    VIsitor site rules:

    • All personnel must receive a site induction prior to visiting this site.
    • All site personnel must sign in and out of site. This should be done individually and never on the behalf of other persons.
    • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be worn by all persons on site at all time. This will be advised by a staff member.
    • Photography is not permitted on site.
    • The use of mobile phones is not permitted on this site, except within the site offices and canteen. Anyone found using a mobile phone on site will be disciplined and removed from site immediately.
    • Visitors are not permitted to smoke on site.
    • Visitors must walk around the site alongside their staff guide at all times.
    • Stay clear of moving vehicles and plant. Heed reversing sirens and do not walk behind reversing vehicles/plant.
    • You are not permitted to touch anything, this includes waste, items of plant and vehicles etc.
    • The MacNabb Waste buildings are clad with asbestos which does not pose a hazard if left undisturbed.

    Contractor site rules

    • All personnel must receive a site induction prior to commencing work on site. No induction, no work.
    • All site personnel must sign in and out of site. This should be done individually and never on the behalf of other persons.
    • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be worn by all persons on site at all times.
    • Contractors must be escorted on to site, area of work secured prior to commencing, and when finished report to site contact and sign off site.
    • Drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated on this site. Anyone found under the influence will be disciplined and removed from site immediately.
    • All food and drink are to be consumed within the prescribed welfare facilities compound. Use the rubbish bins provided and be mindful not to leave scraps of food as these could attract vermin.
    • The use of mobile phones is not permitted on this site, except within the site offices and canteen. Anyone found using a mobile phone on site will be disciplined and removed from site immediately.
    • Keep all areas of the site tidy and free from discarded materials.
    • Inform site management immediately should you discover any hazardous materials or activity.
    • This is a NO smoking site.
    • Only approved trained employees are permitted to use the plant and equipment on the site. Sub-contractors are to provide their own plant and equipment at all times.
    • Misuse of equipment or unsafe practices will not be tolerated. Anyone found doing this or permitting this will be subject to disciplinary action.
    • No work activities will be permitted to commence until a suitable risk assessment and method statement (SSoW) has been submitted to (and agreed with) the HSEQ Manager.
    • Do not interfere with or remove any signage, fencing or dust screens without expressed permission.
    • Do not interfere with existing gas, water or electric services which may become exposed during work.
    • Ensure that all materials brought onto site are handled, stored, and disposed of in a safe manner.
    • No liquid must be poured down drains on this site without the permission of the site contact.
    • If any chemicals are to be used on site, this must be notified to the site contact and a MSDS supplied. Waste chemicals must be removed off site on completion. Contractors are responsible for providing suitable PPE to their staff.
    • Our buildings are constructed from ASBESTOS, please do not disturb / damage any sheeting, downpipes etc. If damage occurs, please vacate the area immediately and report to site contact.

    Contractor site housekeeping

    • Ensure that your work area is tidy and free from any rubbish.
    • Waste disposal & recycling compounds are provided on site. Please make use of this facility when approved by either the site manager or site supervisor.
    • Spot checks will be completed by the HSEQ manager. Rubbish is a hazard, contractors not cleaning up during and after their work will be issued with warnings. Any cleaning costs incurred by MacNabb Waste after contractor’s work will be passed on to the offending contractor.

    Site housekeeping

    • Ensure that your work area is tidy and free from any rubbish
    • Waste disposal and recycling compounds are provided on site
    • Spot checks will be completed by the HSEQ manager. Rubbish is a hazard and must be processed.

    Accident reporting

    • The appointed first aider on this site is Eugene Curran, Barry Curran and Conaill MacNabb.
    • All accidents must be reported immediately to the HSEQ manager, Conaill MacNabb.
    • Any accidents/incidents that are reportable under RIDDOR are to be reported immediately to the HSEQ manager.

    Fire procedure

    • Raise the alarm at activation points.
    • Locate an escape route.
    • Make your way calmly to the designated meeting point (Front car park) and stay there.
    • If the area contains smoke get down as low as possible and proceed as quickly as possible along your exit route.
    • Exit routes are labelled with red arrows on the site map.

    Covid-19 code of conduct

    • Please do not attend a MacNabb Waste site if you or people you live with show the following symptoms of Covid-19, these being:
      • A new continuous cough and/or
      • A high temperature and/or
      • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.
    • MacNabb Waste sites should only be attended on agreed appointment times only.
    • Please call your MacNabb Waste contact or the office (02844842248) when you arrive on site and the office will sign you on/off site via the visitor book.
    • If you need to avail of the welfare facilities, then please let your MacNabb Waste contact know and they can organise this for you. Always sanitise your hands when entering the office and wash your hands after using the facilities.
    • Avoid entering the office unless you are given permission from your MacNabb Waste contact.
    • Social distancing measures must be adhered at all times.
    • Face coverings are highly advised while on site.
    • Avoid contact with all members of MacNabb Waste staff other than your main contact.
    • If any visitors/contractors are not respecting these codes of conduct, then they will be removed from site immediately.

The company policies must be read and understood. 3. Visitor and contractor induction with all the relevant Health & Safety information must be read and understood fully. A copy can be requested and kept for reference. I confirm that I have read and understood all the relevant health & safety points addressed during this induction and will comply with the company site rules. I understand the importance of Health & Safety and the role which I must play to ensure we maintain a safe working environment.
