Note that being a First Responder or Thought Partner isn't like signing up for a newsletter.
Sure, we'll send updates to First Responders. But more importantly, we're looking for people who are prepared to take actions in support of our shared mission to achieve meaningful healthcare reforms. (We won't share your email with anyone).
So this form is a little longer than a standard newsletter signup because want to get to know First Responders so we can come up with actions that make the most of what we all bring to our movement.
What it means to be an NPLB First Responder:
When we hear of a problem that merits our collective response (e.g. signing a letter, reaching out to policymakers), we will put out an Action Notice with a proposed Action. We ask that First Responders then do two things:
- Review the proposed Action (e.g. read the letter) and, if you agree, then join in the Action (i.e. sign the letter).
- Spread the word by forwarding the Action Notice to colleagues, peers, friends... anyone who has a stake in making sure that all of today's medicines and all of tomorrow's are affordable to those who need them.
The NPLB ethos is to always have a solution in the works for any problem that we identify.
So you won't get notices from us complaining about a problem... that would be too easy... we all get angry and frustrated by all that's wrong with our healthcare system. Instead, Action Notices will identify a problem, make a case for how we can work together to solve it, and convey to First Responders what they can do to make a difference, ranging from something as small as just amplifying a tweet to as much joining for a trip to Washington to meet with policymakers, and much in between (e.g. signing letters to policymakers, making connections, emailing Senate offices, writing op-ed that we can help you shape and get published).
It is not necessary to make any donations to NPLB to become a First Responder. Just the willingness to act is enough to qualify. If you believe that you or your organization might be willing to support NPLB's work and mission, that would be very welcome and there will be a place for you to indicate that below and we'll follow up with you to explore.
Thank You,
Peter Rubin
