Client Responsibilities
Placenta encapsulation services will be provided to you, by Courtney Hoyle of PVD Doula at the rate of $375. If Courtney is unavailable a back up may be provided or encapsulation will be scheduled for a date when Courtney is available. A $75 deposit will be required at the signing of this contract. The balance will be required via check or Venmo by 37 weeks gestation or when the contract is signed if after 37 weeks. In the event that you agree to have your placenta sent out for testing, placenta is not stored properly or if you decide for any reason of your own (reasons below excluded) to not encapsulate the balance of $300 still applies.
Client is to make arrangements in advance with the birth facility for release of the placenta. Contact me if you require assistance or direction with this.
Client is responsible for transporting the placenta from the birth facility to the home where the encapsulation will take place.
Client will properly package and store the placenta for transport. The placenta is to be double bagged in gallon size freezer bags and kept cool either in a refrigerator or on ice in a cooler within 3 hours of birth. If it is not possible for the placenta to be encapsulated within the first 48 hours after birth, the placenta needs to be kept double bagged in the freezer.
Please notify me when labor begins or birth is scheduled for and again within 3 hours of baby’s arrival to make arrangements for service. I can be contacted at 917.273.0745.
Processing the Placenta in Your Home
I encapsulate placentas on the first available weekend after your birth. I will make every attempt to get to you as soon as possible. Notifying me soon after birth will help in scheduling.
Client must notify me immediately if there is a power outage in the home during the dehydration process.
Your encapsulated placenta will take (2) consecutive days to prepare. All preparation will take place in the client’s home. I require approximately two hours each day. I will need use of your sink, stove and some counter space. I will leave dehydration equipment plugged in on your countertop overnight. On the second day I will complete the process by grinding the dehydrated placenta into powder form and encapsulating.
You will receive usage information with your encapsulated placenta.
There is no guarantee as to how many capsules your placenta will yield. You can expect between 75-200 capsules. The amount of capsules varies as does the size of the placenta.
