OVERVIEW OF THE AGC The Artists' Group of Charlestown, Inc. (AGC) was founded in 1996 by a group of artists in Charlestown. Since 2002, the AGC has occupied and run the StoveFactory Studios and Gallery at 523 Medford Street. The AGC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization supported by its members, donors, and grant funding. Our mission is to showcase artists’ work and to promote high quality cultural programming for the local community. Our annual community-facing arts program is as follows: 1) StoveFactory Gallery Exhibition Series, 2) AGC@Hood Exhibition Series, 3) Art in the Park at City Square Park, and 4) StoveFactory Open Studios.
GOVERNANCE OF THE AGC The Board of Directors, elected by AGC Members, serves a two-year term without compensation. The Board of Directors is responsible for governance and manages the business and organizational affairs of the AGC. Subcommittees of volunteers are formed to execute our arts programming. The Board can include Artist Members, Supporting Members, and community members. Board elections are held at our Annual Members’ meeting of the AGC each fall, at which AGC Artist and Supporting Members vote.
