    Puppy Application

  • At first glance, you might thing "sheesh, this is a little long - are all these questions really necessary?" I know, because I thought the same thing when we got our dogs! We hand-raise all of our puppies in our home with our children and other pets. We love them and set them up success, so we want to be able to match each puppy with the right home. Every family is different, and there are no right or wrong answers. We know many families have two working adults and we don't expect anyone to be a superhero and quit a day job just to be able to take home a puppy. Every puppy family has different needs, and this application helps us identify who needs what information and what homes might make the best fit.


    Border Collies are known as one of the smartest dog breeds in the world. Because they're so smart, they do require a significant amount of training, exercise, and work/play in order to be happy dogs. They also need these things so that they don't tear up the house &/or develop behavior issues. If you have owned Border Collies before, then you're aware! If you are new to this breed, please do plenty of research before committing to this dog for 15+ years.

    • What to expect 

    • Completing this application is a step in the process to acquiring a puppy from Botanical Border Collies, but it does not guarantee you'll get a puppy from this or any future litter. While it's unlikely, Sarah Powell reserves the right to refuse any puppy placement at any time.

      If this application is approved, you'll be notified when the pregnancy is confirmed and be required to send a $350 non-refundable deposit within 7 days in order to hold a puppy of the breeder's choice. Please note our deposit policy: if you make a deposit, you are committing to take a puppy from the litter, regardless of whether your gender/color preference is available. Should you elect to not take a puppy from the litter, the deposit is forfeited. Sarah Powell will be choosing which puppy goes to each approved applicant. Deposits are non-refundable. 

      We reserve the right to hold puppies. This may mean that certain puppies may not be available for a couple weeks while we decide on if we may keep the said puppy.


      Puppies will go to their new homes at 9-10 weeks of age. Puppies must be picked up within 7 days of the agreed upon date unless other written arrangements are made.

      All of our puppies are sold with AKC Limited Registration and spay/neuter contracts. This means that the dog is eligible to be registered, however, none of the offspring are eligible for registration. In other words, this dog is NOT to be bred. A dog with Limited Registration, as well as a spayed/neutered dog can compete in all AKC events except in the Conformation (Breed) ring. You are not to spay/neuter your puppy before 12 months of age and no later than 24 months of age. Proof of the spay/neuter procedure from your veterinarian is required before we will release the said dog's registration papers.

      We do not allow any puppy to leave our property prior to 8 weeks of age, NO EXCEPTIONS.
