Reflective Practice IS
- Making time and space to practice reflecting on what happens in our classrooms
- Focused on students’ mathematical understanding
- Centered on a finite moment of time (not an entire unit, week, or lesson)
Reflective Practice IS NOT
- Focused on what you, the teacher, were doing in that moment
- Evaluation of your teaching in any way whatsoever
- A five-paragraph essay
Choose one discrete moment (say, 15 minutes of time) when children were doing mathematical thinking in your classroom. You may choose this timeframe in advance and decide to record it using written notes, video, or photos. Or, you might choose to focus on a significant moment that stood out to you this month.
