Please read each section carefully as these questions frequently come up during the course of the summer.
  • CLIENT POOL REQUIREMENTS:

For the safety and wellbeing of our instructors and your families, please ensure the following criteria are met:

    • Water is clear
    • Filtration systems are on and functional - no algae build up, murky water, etc.
    • Water heaters are functional and pool is maintained at a minimum of 83 degrees Fahrenheit. Warmer water is recommended, especially for younger swimmers, beginner swimmers and/or when the air temperature is cooler.

Do to the climate and cooler temperatures in the mornings, evenings and later in the summer, we do not serve unheated pools. If we book your pool and it does not meet the criteria for temperature when instructors arrive, no refund will be given.

Our instructors reserve the right to refuse work for unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions. If any of the above conditions are not met, the instructor will not enter the water. Cancelled lessons due to the unsafe nature of your pool will not be refunded.

  • RESCHEDULING:

You may reschedule a lesson if:

    • At least 48 hours’ notice is given and;
    • The instructor has availability.

Unfortunately, illness, travel and other unforeseen circumstances resulting in last minute cancellations will not be made up or refunded.

  • REFUNDS:

Outdoor swimming packages are non-refundable. To avoid not being able to complete all purchased lessons, please book all lessons right away and avoid rescheduling.

  • INCLEMENT WEATHER:

We teach rain or shine but we do not teach in inclement weather (including but not limited to thunder and electrical storms). We do not cancel lessons in advance. If you choose to cancel prior to 30 minutes before the start of your lesson, and the weather clears, a make-up day will not be provided. Lessons postponed/rescheduled by Marlin Swim Academy due to inclement weather will be rescheduled, but not refunded.

If thunder is heard within 30 minutes of your lesson, the instructor will call or text to reschedule the lesson. If, at your request, the instructor shows and the weather does not cooperate, the lesson is forfeited.

If thunder is heard while the lesson is ongoing, your instructor is under strict orders to vacate the pool. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to ensure the swimmers vacate the pool as well. If the ongoing lesson is less than 50% complete, the missed time will be added to a future lesson. If the ongoing lesson is more than 50% complete, or it is the last lesson, it will be considered a completed lesson.

  • MISSED LESSONS:

Should your instructor show up at a scheduled time and find that no one is home, they will do their due diligence in trying to reach you at the phone number provided during booking. They will wait a maximum of 15 minutes at which time, if contact was not made, they will leave and no refund or make-up lesson will be provided.

If you are going to be late to a lesson, please inform your instructor as soon as possible by text message. Please note that, should the instructor have a lesson immediately following yours, there may not be the opportunity to get the full amount of time in. The lost time will not be refunded or made up.

  • INSTRUCTOR TARDINESS OR SICKNESS:

If an instructor is ill, we will do our best to offer you a replacement instructor. If you choose not to have a replacement come to your home or one is not available, a full refund for the lesson(s) will be provided.

If your instructor is going to be more than 5 minutes late, they will do their due diligence in trying to contact you. Please remember that our instructors spend a lot of time in a vehicle and are at the mercy of traffic. They may not have the hands-free technology available to get in touch with you should they hit traffic or other extraordinary circumstances. Lost time due to a late instructor will be made up.

  • CONTACTING YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Most of our instructors are available on their mobile devices on days they are working and they are more than willing to take your call to address concerns or questions. If you need to contact your instructor on a day they are not scheduled for an appointment, please contact the offce at 905-572-1760 or by email at info@marlinswimacademy.com. This will avoid any miscommunication due to vacations, sickness, etc.
