Research Award Honoring the NE Chapter

Purpose: To support research by masters or doctoral students related to/in transcultural nursing by providing support for research.

Criteria: For research conducted by masters or doctoral students in partial fulfillment of a master’s or doctoral degree. Research investigations must focus on transcultural nursing phenomena.

1. Applicant must have been an active member in good standing of the Transcultural Nursing Society for at least one full year prior to the time of application.  No gaps in membership should be present for the year prior to applying. (All TCNS Elected officials are not eligible to apply.)
2. Submit all application materials to the Transcultural Nursing Society Research Award. All materials must be submitted online and cannot be changed after submission. 
3. Proposal deadline:  February 15, 2026
4. Awardees must present their completed research findings at a Transcultural Nursing Society Annual Conference and/or a TCNS Regional Conference, including but not limited to a Northeast Chapter Annual Conference, within three years of completing their research. Awardees will assume all travel expenses and pay the conference registration fee for the Transcultural Nursing Conference at which they will present their findings.
5. Awardees must complete and sign all required forms for the TCNS and IRS, as applicable, before receiving the award. The signed contract and forms must be received by theTranscultural Nursing Society Central Office before an award is dispersed. One research award application per research project can be funded if accepted. You cannot use the same project for a second award. It must be a new project.
6. All applicants must submit:
   1. A five-page research proposal and a one-page budget.
   2. Letter of recommendation from dissertation advisor if the applicant is a doctoral student.
   3. A statement describing past contributions to the Transcultural Nursing Society.
   4. A statement describing how the research will further the knowledge base in transcultural nursing.
      

Awards are reviewed by an independent research award committee.  All decisions are final.  The result will be communicated to you once the process has been completed.  This generally happens in April or March of the current year.   Please direct questions to staff@tcns.org.
