Who invented bowling? There is evidence that the ancient Egyptians played bowling games as early as 3200 BC. Objects resembling bowling pins and balls were found in tombs dating to this time period, and wall drawings depicting Egyptians playing the game were also found around this same time. How the ancient Egyptians played bowling, when they first invented it, was probably similar to how to play bowling today, with the goal of knocking down as many pins as possible with a ball rolled from a set distance away.
The game of bowling has grown more sophisticated over time, now requiring special soft-soled shoes, a ball with bored out holes for fingers, a wood lane, coated with oil, and ten pins at the end of the lane.
Though bowling is not a contact sport, there are still safety precautions that need to be considered when playing. Using street shoes is unsafe, as they may stick or catch, during the approach. Bowling shoes have special bottoms to allow the foot to slide as the ball is thrown. Street shoes may also damage the approach area, which is the area in which a bowler takes several steps up to the lane, before throwing the ball. All food and drinks, as well as coats, bags, street shoes, and anything else brought to the lane, should be behind the approach area to prevent slipping or tripping. The area past the foul line is oiled and very slippery. Bowlers need to stay behind this line, so that they do not fall. In bowling, every turn includes two throws. Between throws, bowlers wait for their ball to come through the ball return. The ball return is a machine with moving parts, so keep hands out of and away from it while waiting for the ball.
Bowlers follow a set of etiquette rules, including keeping quiet when someone is throwing, and waiting for an adjacent bowler to finish before beginning the approach.
Bowling Rules
Simply stated, regulation bowling rules include throwing a ball down a lane to knock over pins. A regulation game consists of 10 frames. A player may throw the ball a total of two times per frame, in an effort to knock down all 10 pins at the end of the lane. If they successfully knock all pins down on their first throw, it is called a strike. When a strike is thrown, the frame is over for this player and the next player begins their turn. 슬롯 There is an exception to this rule on the tenth frame. If a player records a spare on the tenth frame, knocking down all the pins in two throws, they earn one additional throw. If the player records a strike on the tenth frame, they earn two additional throws. On each side of the lane, there is a gutter, which is a low lying area that the ball may roll into. A ball that is rolled off of the lane and into the gutter is called a gutter ball. Typically, a gutter ball will roll all the way down the gutter and back into the ball return. From time to time, the ball falls into the gutter with enough force that it bounces back out of the gutter. If this happens, and pins are knocked down, these pins do not count for the bowler's score. Another rule is that the bowler may not cross the foul line. If a bowler's foot touches the foul line, it is called a fault, and the number of pins knocked down does not count toward the bowler's score. Bowling rules also include, adhering to proper surface conditions, having proper equipment, and following a complex scoring system.
