ABOUT
The Great Homes Update Program provides Sugar Land homeowners and homeowner associations (HOAs) with a creative, re-envisioned exterior home design at a low and affordable cost. The purpose of the Great Homes Design Program is to give residents and neighborhoods creative direction and inspiration as to what the exterior of their home could like with the intention of encouraging homeowners to make those exterior renovations to revamp their home.
FUNDING
Fiscal Year 2023 budgeted funds are $120,000.
REBATE PROCESS
Homeowners who implement at least one qualifying exterior improvement to their home within six months of receiving a design through this program may be eligible to receive a one-time rebate check of up to $500 from the City of Sugar Land. Homeowner associations are not eligible for the rebate check. Rebate check will not be greater than the total project cost (excluding permit fees and taxes).
QUALIFYING EXTERIOR IMPROVEMENTS
- Qualifying exterior improvements must substantially incorporate at least one improvement from the design received
- Qualifying exterior improvements include:
- Exterior painting
- Addition of new exterior siding, soffit, or trim
- Exterior siding repair and replacement
- Window replacement
- Garage door replacement
- Accent lighting
ADDITIONAL PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
- In order to receive an incentive, the applicant must apply for and submit a reimbursement application
- Only one voucher and rebate check shall be awarded for each residential household. Vouchers are not transferable.

Not all properties and/or projects meeting the eligibility requirements of the program will be able to receive reimbursement grants. Eligibility and awards under this program will be determined by the City of Sugar Land in its sole discretion. Reimbursement grants will be distributed until all program funds have been allocated.

Any program participant hereby agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold the City of Sugar Land as well as any of their officers, directors, employees, and from any claims, damages, losses and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys’ fees, asserted against the Parties related in any way to a project.

Program participant will be required to give to the City of Sugar Land, the unrestricted right to use, for any lawful purpose, any photographs or video footage taken of the property for the program’s application, and any designs provided by Brick & Batten or Dzinly as part of this program.
