    Letter of Affirmation for Ordination

A Candidate for Ordination through the Seminary or Apprentice Track is endorsed by both their Sponsoring and Supporting Congregations. At least one month prior to the Candidate’s final “Ordination Conversation” with the Regional Commission on the Order of Ministry (RCOM), each Congregation will provide a Letter of Affirmation for Ordination. This Letter expresses why the Congregation believes the Candidate is prepared to be Ordained as a Disciples of Christ (DOC) Minister with the Christian Church of Mid-America.

    LETTER GUIDELINES

    • The Congregation acknowledges the Candidate’s call to and gifts for Ministry. This is reflected in the Candidate’s contact and experience with the Congregation throughout their Ordination journey.
    • The Congregation provides specific evidence for the Candidate’s ability to manage the duties and demands of Ministry.
    • The Congregation’s intention, if applicable, to host the Candidate’s Ordination Service upon receiving RCOM’s approval for Ordination and granting of Ministerial Standing with the Mid-America Region. Include the date, time, and location of the Ordination Service if already determined.

Questions can be directed to the Candidate’s Regional Minister, the RCOM Coordinator, or the Ministry Associate in the Springfield Office. Please email the Ministry Associate at sgf@ccmadisiples.org.
