Cowichan Valley Teachers' Union
Peer2Peer Mentorship Application
The Cowichan Valley Teachers Union is pleased to support the CVTU Peer2Peer Mentorship Program. This is a self-directed, independent program designed to support new teachers (less than 5 years) or teachers new to their role. Goals of this program are to increase collaboration between teachers, provide information, guidance, and support, and to build capacity. Each participant will have up to 2 days of release time for mentorship activities such as consultation, visitation, and observation. Although this is non-evaluative, at the conclusion of the collaborative effort, the mentorship partners will be expected to provide a self-reflection describing their activities, and how those activities and/or learnings impacted their teaching practice.
Guiding Principles:
1. Peer2Peer partnerships are self-chosen and guided by the needs of the mentee.
2. The relationship is collaborative and collegial. There is no evaluative role for the mentor teacher.
3. Joint activities and use of release time should be based on the stated needs of the mentee.
Each Peer2Peer Mentorship will look different!
