The Adoptee will reside in your home and live as a family member and companion only to the ASSIGNED Adopter. *
Adoptee will not be placed outdoors during the Adopters’ hours attending employment, or at any time be left alone outdoors while Adopter is not at home or is otherwise occupied. *
Adopter will not allow adoptee to run, or roam unattended, nor will the adoptee be placed on a chain/ run line of any kind. Adopter understands that this provision is warranted for the safety and wellbeing of the adoptee. Adoption may be denied on this basis.
At no time will the adoptee be given away to a home that is not approved by East Coast Boxer Rescue (HERINAFTER REFERRED TO AS ECBR). If ECBR finds that the adopter no longer has possession of the adoptee, custody of the adoptee is forfeited to ECBR immediately. The adopter MUST disclose the address of the adoptee, a contact number to the residence of the adoptee. ECBR reserves the right to reclaim the adoptee without any refund of adoption fees to the Adopter. The Adopter will be considered at fault if any financial/ legal matters occur when reclaiming the adoptee from an unapproved home.
If for any circumstance the adopter is not able to keep adoptee regardless of reason, adopter must reach back out to ECBR. Adoptee must be returned to ECBR. Adopter is responsible for any costs associated in returning dog to ECBR. Adopter must give ECBR a week (7 days) time frame to coordinate the return and foster placement of adoptee. At the time of return to ECBR there will be no refund of adoption fees regardless of time in the home. *
Level of Care: Adopter will need to provide a high standard of care for this Adoptee, including but not limited to, proper food, nutrition, water, shelter, training, companionship, exercise, humane treatment and appropriate veterinary attention. The Adopter will not use the ECBR for anything other than companionship. Adopter will not allow any definition of abuse to occur to this Adoptee.
Veterinary Care: Adopter must agree to provide regular veterinary care for the Adoptee. Including a minimum of ONE annual physical exam, and vaccinations as advised by ECBR’s veterinarian. The Adopter further agrees to keep the Adoptee on heartworm preventative throughout the Adoptees lifespan, or as advised by ECBR’s veterinarian. Adopter agrees to not alter the physical appearance of the Adoptee for anything other than medical necessity.
Current Medical Status: ECBR will disclose any existing conditions to the best knowledge known at time of adoption by Adopter. If any medical conditions occur after placement and possession of the Adoptee, it is the sole responsibility of the Adopter to provide proper medical care. The Adopter shall not hold ECBR responsible or seek legal action for any medical condition after the Adoptee is placed into the Adopters’ home.
Training: Unless otherwise stipulated by ECBR, Adopter agrees that any methods of training will be positive (i.e. reinforcement based) and not punitive (i.e. choke chain training). Should the Adopter be using an electric fence, the Adopter agrees that ample professional training to the electric fence will be provided, and that only the minimum level of negative stimulus will be used to safely contain the Adoptee on the Adopters’ premises.
Third Party Claims: The Adopter agrees that they will protect, hold harmless, and indemnify ECBR and its agents and representatives, individually and separately, from any claim on the part of any third-party against ECBR for personal injury or property damage resulting from the conduct or actions of the Adoptees that said Adopter is adopting from ECBR. The Adopter does expressly waive the right to make any such claims on their own part. This indemnification includes any legal cost or attorney’s fees incurred by ECBR in defending any such claim.
Spaying/Neutering: (In rare circumstances, an Adoptee goes to their new Adopter unaltered.) If the Adoptee has not been altered at the time of adoption, the Adopter will have the Adoptee spayed/ neutered at the appointment arranged by ECBR. Adopter understands that they WILL go to the appointment discussed and made by ECBR, adopter will not argue, disagree with, or change the appointment unless a serious unexpected event occurs. Adopter understands this appt will be made as soon as available even if if before 6 months of age. Adopter understands that if they argue the appointment or Fail to show up to confirmed appointment (without approved reason) it results in automatic adoption termination and will need to pay for the cost of the missed appointment and will need to return the dog to the foster/rescue within 24 hours.
If the Adoptee is to become lost or were to pass, an Adopter will immediately notify ECBR.
Reservation Of Rights: The Adopter understands that ECBR is concerned about the ongoing welfare of the Adoptees they rescue, and, therefore, The Adopter agrees that ECBR shall retain superior title of ownership for the well-being of the Adoptee, only exercising its superior claim over said Adoptee in the event that the proper and humane care as specified in the above adoption policies are being knowingly or unknowingly ignored, or if any of the above is breached, in which case the adoptee will be repossessed by ECBR.
If ECBR finds any this information to be untrue, falsified, any evidence to prove the above agreed upon terms have been broken, the adoptee is in distress, then ECBR reserves the right to reclaim the adoptee without refund of adoption fees to the adopters.
ECBR microchips each adoptable pet under the rescue's name, I understand that the microchip information must remain with ECBR as FIRST contact and I am listed as the SECONDARY contact. If the microchip FIRST contact information is changed, or microchip is removed and/or replaced, I understand I am forfeiting the adoption of this dog and the dog may be removed from my custody.
I, (Adopter), due solemnly promise to uphold and follow the guidelines set forth by ECBR as explained above. To take care of the adoptee, for if I am found in violation of any guidelines set forth by ECBR, I (adopter) will relinquish all rights to the adoptee as well as return custody of the adoptee back to ECBR. In signing this document, I (adopter) take full responsibility for my actions and agree to all/any decision(s) that ECBR makes for the safety of the adoptee.
