  • Dog Walking: We provide One to One walks or Small Group Walks. Walking slots are approximately 50 minutes long. Our walks will consist of sniffing, exploring and interacting with other dogs where possible. During group walks, we will minimise the use of treats and no toys are permitted, to prevent any resource guarding issues from occurring. During solo walks, toys and treats will be used where appropriate.

Pet Sitting: Pet sitting takes place in the clients home and includes toilet walks as well as one standard walk a day. Enrichment and mental stimulation is provided as standard during the care. We are happy to continue any basic on-going training for the dog during the sit e.g. house training. If the pet sitting dog is able to be matched with a group, the dog can join us for any group walks we have in that day. Pet sitting dogs who can be left for a few hours in the day receive a discounted rate as we are then able to provide training/walking services alongside their care. If the dog cannot be left for a few hours, e.g. due to separation related behaviours, the rate is higher as we will not leave the dog alone for any period of time during their sit. Pet sitting includes the basic cleaning of the dog’s items (e.g. bed, bowls, walking equipment) and we will of course clean up after ourselves during our stay, however we do not provide a house-sitting service which includes general cleaning of the client’s home. Exceptions can be made and should be agreed upon the signing of this form.

We may offer a pet sit in place of a cancelled walk.

    • The Positive Canine uses Positive Reinforcement methods, and no aversive methods will ever be recommended or accepted for training. We are more than happy to discuss this in more detail to explain the reasoning behind our choices.
    • We are happy to help clients change over from aversive training methods into force free methods. Aversive training methods include: choke chains, pet corrector, spray bottles, prong collars, E collars or physical or psychological intimidation.
    • All dogs undergoing training sessions must be controlled by an adult over 18, however children are welcome to attend to observe and take part in appropriate sessions.
    • We may require the dog to undergo a veterinary health check prior to proceeding with training and behaviour modification; this is because underlying medical conditions can affect behaviour. This helps not only your dog, but also ensures the training is effective.
    • The Positive Canine does not claim to resolve all issues within a few sessions, especially more complex issues such as reactivity, separation anxiety or resource guarding. Results will also depend on how long the issues have been occurring for. We aim to give our clients the necessary knowledge and tools to continue the training outside of training sessions.
