If you missed the last one, our popular combination IS BACK for two more evenings... Owls and Astronomy!! Enjoy a deep dive into the owls of New York, their important role in our ecosystem and learn about the owls that fledged here at CEED. After our short owl talk, we will head out on our trails to see if we can hear our local owls hooting. Not only is the one and only Ranger Eric Powers leading the owl prowl, we will also have visiting guests James MacDougal and his owl, Aria. We will also keep our eyes out for any other nighttime creatures, such as flying squirrels, fox, bats and opossums.
After the night hike, you will be tantalized with a powerful telescope and someone that knows how to use it… our Special Guest, Astrophysicist Charlie Eder! This is a great night for a deep look at the Autumn Sky. We encourage you to bring your own binoculars, and even cameras to practice long-exposure photography. If cloudy, we will switch to a digital presentation for your enjoyment.
Remember to wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather as the trail is uneven at times and the evenings can get chilly!
