    Commercial Waste Services Waiver Application
  • As of January 1, 2022, California's Senate Bill (SB) 1383 requires all businesses and multi-family properties to arrange for organic waste collection and recycling collection services including food waste, green (yard) waste, and standard recyclables. Businesses may be elible for a De Minimus or Physical Space Waiver and Multi-Family properties may be eligible for a Physical Space Waiver. Criteria for these waivers are as follows:

    De Minimus Waiver

    • Bussiness is a current subscriber to solid waste collection service 
    • Business generates at least 2 cubic yards of solid waste and less than 20 gallons of organic waste per week or less than less than 20 gallons of recyclables per week; or businesses that generate less than 2 cubic yards of solid waste and less than 10 gallons of organic waste per week or less than 10 gallons of recyclables per week.(An example might be a business that utilizes a landscaper to remove all green waste offsite and has no food waste.) *If your business follows this practice, please complete the Certification of Recycling Service Form.

    Physical Space Waiver

    • Business is a current subscriber to soild waste collection service 
    • Businesses that have no space on-site for additional containers. In some cases, containers may be placed outside of an enclosure.
    • Photo documentation must include both interior and exterior images of all waste enclosures/areas on the property

  • For De Minimus Waiver requests only: What is your current combined collection service for trash, recycling, and organic waste (including green waste and food waste)?
  • How do you currently manage your organic waste on a weekly basis? Check all that apply.*
  • (Part 3/3) Waivers will be assessed for both food waste and green waste service needs. Business' may be waived from the food waste collection requirement, the green waste collection requirement, or both, as needed. For example, a business that does not produce any food waste may be waived from food waste collection service but may need to subscribe to green waste service, depending on the amount of landscape waste that’s generated.
