Consent Form to use ProdigyPOD Virtual Spaces
1. Purpose:
In order to access online lessons, students will be required to visit our virtual campus and the virtual offices of ProdigyPOD experts, via the gather.town. Gather.town is a metaverse space where students can interact with ProdigyPOD assignments and meet with their tutor and other students in their pod. As per the terms & conditions of Gather.town, in accordance with COPA, children under the age of thirteen are not permitted to use the platform without written consent from a legal parent or guardian. Moreover, gather.town has additional restrictions regarding the personal data of minors under the age of eighteen. The purpose of this consent form is to obtain written approval from the parents of minors.
2. ProdigyPOD Virtual Campus:
ProdigyPOD's virtual campus enables students to connect with tutors for their online lessons and meetings. The servers hosting the campus are owned and operated by gather.town - an online platform that enables organizations to build, manage and use metaverse spaces. As with all gather.town spaces, ProdigyPOD's campus can be accessed via the internet by direct link, as well as through a student's prodigypod.com profile.
3. Privacy:
By interacting with ProdigyPOD via our online portal, students may be given the opportunity to provide personal information to gather.town. Gather does not store or view user audio or video, which are both encrypted in transit in a manner similar to Google Meet. Gather also does not store chat messages sent via the platform on their server. Gather does store documents and images, which are encrypted at rest while in cloud storage, as well as user email addresses, information pertaining to user accounts, and any information associated with feedback provided directly to the gather.town platform. As such, we do not recommend that students make a gather.town account, but rather access ProdigyPOD's online spaces via the temporary link provided on your profile page. 4. Security:
As a metaverse space, ProdigyPOD's online campus can be accessed and joined by anyone with a link to the space. In order to avoid interacting with other users, we ask that students do not enter spaces without a ProdigyPOD representative present. Students can prevent interacting with other users on the platform by refraining from joining ProdigyPOD virtual spaces outside of scheduled lessons or meeting times.
5. Consent:
By signing below, you are granting permission for your child to access and use ProdigyPOD's virtual spaces, and are acknowledging that you have considered and will abide by the terms and conditions of gather.town, both on your behalf and on the behalf of your child.
