Congratulations! -and welcome to the next step in the Candidacy process of the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist church! We celebrate the call of ministry that God has put upon your life and we are eager to continue walking with you on your journey.

Once you become an Admitted Candidate, your dCOM assigns you a Mentor to walk with you on your journey toward Becoming A Certified Candidate. Please type the name of your Mentor. (If for some reason you do not know the name of your mentor or were not assigned one, please contact the Chair of your District Committee on Ministry. A list of officers can be found at: www.vaumc.org/clergyexcellencedcomresources )
Register with GBHEM
All candidates pursuing certification in the Virginia Conference must register with the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) of the United Methodist Church.

The registration includes a fee of $100. The Center for Clergy Excellence has estblished a pay portal through Aventri. The link to the registration portal can be found on the Becoming A Certified Candidate Checklist.

Please note the date of payment in this application.

Once you have paid your fee, the Center for Clergy Excellence will complete your registration with GBHEM.

In order to prepare to meet with the District Committee on Ordained Ministry, you must upload your answers to the Ministry Questions. In a separate document, respond to the questions listed below (BOD ¶310.2a). Upload your responses as a Word document or PDF below.

You will prepare these same questions again when you prepare to meet with your District Committee on Ordained Ministry (dCOM).

Please note* While your answers might not change significantly, your answers should reflect some variety and growth in your journey.

Psychological Evaluation
Complete the "Psychological Assessment Request- Candidate" form found on the forms page of the Conference website and submit it to VIPCare per instructions found on the form.

Please note that the psychological assessment process can take as much as 8-10 weeks in total - from submission to receipt final report.

A copy of your Psychological Assessment report will be sent to you and the Center for Clergy Excellence. A staff member from Clergy Excellence will upload your psych assessment into your folder on Basecamp for review by your dCOM.

Candidacy Mentor Report
Your candidacy mentor will report on your candidacy journey through jotform. Once they submit thier report a copy of it will go to your District Mentor Coordinator who will upload a copy into your file folder on basecamp.
