Communications

As part of membership all members receive a monthly newsletter by email to keep you up to date with our activities, exhibitions, workshops and other news.
Opportunities to get involved

BAS is a fully volunteer-run society. We provide lots of activities and events for members – and they all need members to run them!
Volunteering is a great way to meet other artists and to ensure BAS keeps being the wonderful society it is.
Please indicate which activities you might be willing and able to help with:
1. Curate exhibitions
2. Studio maintenance and repairs
3. Organise and coordinate teams for specific tasks
4. Distribute posters/fliers/leaflets
5. Put up and/or take down signs and banners in the street
6. Hang artworks or receive artworks for exhibitions
7. Staff exhibitions and sell artworks
8. Provide accommodation for visitors
9. Move studio furniture for events
10. Catering for events
11. Post on social media (Facebook, Instagram, BAS Bulletin)
12. Design desk-top publishing, e.g. for posters, adverts, newsletter
13. Gardening
14. Bookkeeping and/or general administration (familiarity with MS Word, Excel, data entry)
15. Website support
16. Serving on the Committee
Management

The Society is managed by a Committee of 4 Office Bearers (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) and 6 Ordinary Members who undertake roles such as membership or workshop management.
We ask Committee members to commit to serving one full year if elected. Office Bearers have a maximum tenure of 3 consecutive years in any one role.
The Committee meets on the 2nd Saturday of every month. All financial BAS members are eligible for nomination and may also observe Committee meetings.

This statement tells you how Blackheath Art Society collects and manages your personal information.

We may collect and hold your name, mailing address, email address, telephone number, preferred artistic media, activities for which you have offered to volunteer and details of events in which you have applied to participate, like workshops, exhibitions, studio groups or socials. We collect this information directly from you when you complete an application form or contact us via email or phone. We may hold your information in either electronic or hard copy form and we take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access. Your personal information may be viewed only by the Blackheath Art Society Committee or its delegates and only for the purposes of providing services or communications to you. We do not disclose this information to any outside parties, other than as required by law. Personal information is destroyed when no longer needed.

As our website is linked to the internet, and the internet is inherently insecure, we cannot provide any assurance regarding the security of information transmitted online, for example online membership or workshop forms. Accordingly, any personal information which you transmit to us online is transmitted at your own risk.
