OBJECTIVES:
Participants will learn about appropriate and inclusive language while engaging with the LGBTQ+ community and their families.
Participants will understand potential challenges that LGBTQ+ individuals might encounter throughout the lifespan.
Participants will acquire knowledge about standards of care for the wellbeing of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals.
Participants will be educated on intake and treatment factors to consider when working with the LGBTQ+ community and their families.
ABOUT EMILY ABRAHAM:
Emily Abraham, LCSW (she/her), is the Director of Support and Wellness at JQ International and a private practice therapist in Los Angeles, CA. Emily oversees JQ's support groups, Helpline, and psychoeducation workshops to promote the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ Jews, allies, and their communities. As a therapist serving clients in California and Colorado, Emily offers LGBTQIA+ affirming services to adolescents, adults, and couples facing various unique challenges. She received her MSW from USC and BA in Psychology from University of Maryland.
