Policy:
Our company is a licensed business in the state of North Dakota with a skilled groomer. While we pride ourselves in the styling and hair cuts that we can do, sometimes there are factors that we have to take into consideration. Some of those factors (but not limited to) include matting (tight and close to the skin knots), flea/tick infestation, or lack of the ability for the owner to keep up with daily grooming.
Pet Behavior:
We reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive dogs with behavioral problems. The owner MUST agree to inform us if their dog is known to be aggressive, has bitten anyone, or could possibly be nippy. The owner understands that they will be legally liable for the consequences of ALL bites caused by their dog. If a dog shows excessive aggression during the groom, we have the right to use a soft muzzle. If we are unable to complete a groom due to aggressive behavior or injury to groomer or pet, the owner agrees to pay for any work carried out to that point.
Pet Welfare:
Before and during the grooming session, your dog will be carefully checked over for any and all issues that may need to seek veterinary attention. This may include (but is not limited to) skin sores, loss of hair, lesions, flea/tick infestation, or possible ear infections.
We are NOT medical professionals and our health checks do NOT replace the need to take your dog to the vets for check-ups, advice, and treatments. We are grooming professionals who just may notice something that the owners may not because we are examining the pet's fur and skin. We want to ensure that you are notified at time of pick up of any concerns so that the owner can seek medical attention for their pet.
If your pet has a flea or tick infestation, we ask that you notify us BEFORE their appointment so that we can discuss wether they should be treated before their groom or if it's something that we can safely take care of for you.
Matted Fur:
Matting does happen and many times can be carefully combed out using our dematting comb, thinning shears, or regular shears. If it is feasable to work out these mats to save your pet's coat, we will absolutely do so. There is a charge of $15.00 pet 30 minutes of dematting. If the mats are too severe to remove at the comfort of your pet, we will shave them out with an electric clipper. This can, in some cases, cause skin irritation or skin nicks from the fur pulling the skin from all different directions that we can not see. When shaving a severly matted dog, we will take our time and do it as slowly as possible to minimize these issues and keep the dog as comfortable as possible.
We WILL NOT pick through and cause discomfort to your pet for a hairstyle that you want if it's more humane to start with a short and fresh coat. Again, your pet's comfort is our absolute #1 priority. HUMANITY before VANITY is our first and foremost policy.
