The Saskatchewan Youth Band (SYB) - Intermediate level is a great opportunity to further inspire and develop dedicated grade 9 & 10 band students! Thank you for considering YOUR outstanding and hard-working students for this great experience.
Band Directors are welcome to nominate as many of their grade 9 & 10 students that they feel are up to the challenge of the spring SYB weekend. The SYB will host both the Junior and Intermediate levels on March 17th & 18th, 2023 in Regina.
The Nomination Process
Band Directors identify students they feel should be considered for the SYB. Discuss with the identified students and provide audition information.
The student, with or without the Band Director's help, does an audio recording (audio only) demonstrating their abilities based on the audition requirements provided to the Band Director. Please submit only ONE (1) recording per student. Please label the file with the students last name & instrument. (ex: Smith/Flute)
Complete this form for EACH student being nominated.
The finished recording is given to the Band Director to include as an uploaded file (as part of the formal nomination form below).
The Band Director completes the form (below) including the uploaded recording and submits the nomination no later than December 20, 2022.
The SYB Coordinator and committee will review all nominations and recordings. Final selections for the band are anticipated by mid to late January. Band Directors will be notified of the selected SYB participants. The SBA will notify students and parents directly where possible or will seak Band Director assistance in notifying selected participants if required. Once selected, parents and students will be asked to formally register for the program to ensure their spot.
