Application deadline is Friday December 9, 2022

Purpose

The purpose of this contest is to encourage the youth to become more aware of the Lunar New Year celebration and the opportunity to demonstrate their writing talents. The contest is open to students in K-12.
- 1 finalist students in elementary [Grade K-5]
- 1 finalist students in middle school [Grade 6-8]
- 1 finalist students in high school [Grade 9-12]
A winner will be selected at each level (elementary, middle, and high school). Each winner will receive $100.

The Academic Team will be contacting the parent/guardian of each winner by Saturday, December 3, 2022. A photo of your child will be requested at this time to include in the publishing of his/her work.

Grades K - 5

In 300 words or less, write a narrative that describes what Tết Việt Nam means to you. What family traditions and activities do you enjoy with your family and friends? Explain what is most meaningful to you about the Lunar New Year. What New Year resolutions do you have for yourself and/or others?

Middle & High School

In 500 words or less, write a narrative that describes what Tết Việt Nam means to you. What are your favorite Lunar New Year traditions? In what ways do the Lunar New Year traditions and festivities influence your ideas and growth as a citizen within our community? What positive impact does the Lunar New Year traditions have in your life? What New Year resolutions do you have for yourself and/or others?

3. Submit file or picture of essay written in English typed or handwritten
