Colors of Service 2023 - Registration

Thank you for your interest in the inaugural Colors of Service art competition, hosted by Volunteer ETSU and the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement. Please complete the below form by Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2022 to secure your spot in the competition. Art submissions will be due by Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.
2023 Theme: "Communities Serving Communities; People Serving People"

Envision an engaged world. Communities serving communities; people serving people. What does the true impact of community service and volunteer work look like? How are both the communities and those that serve impacted by engaging in civic and humanitarian work around them? What does this service mean to you?

Submissions

Create a work of art in your style of choice, whether that be graphic design, animation, oils, pastels, or whatever other medium your vision gravitates towards. All submissions will be asked to self-identify into either 1) visual art, 2) digital art, or 3) mixed media. With your work, submit a short paragraph detailing what being involved in community service means to you.

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, Dec. 21

Art Submission Deadline: Tuesday, Jan. 31

Judging and Prizes

Entries will be scored by a select panel of faculty and staff judges from across the University community with backgrounds in art and design, higher education, leadership, and community-engaged learning. Scoring will focus primarily on adherance to theme and messages conveyed.

There will be prizes for the top entry in each category and a grand prize for the top entry overall.

Select entries will also be displayed at the 'Community Partners Luncheon' scheduled for Spring 2023 with community non-profits, university administrators, and serviced-focused student organizations in attendance.

Please note: By submitting to the competition, artists are not giving up their rights to their art, but are giving permission for the art to be used in outlets related to the competition and for any marketing efforts related to service and community engagement by the Volunteer ETSU organization and the ETSU Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement with written credit in the form of the artist's name. Artists will be contacted if any additional use is desired outside of the above-mentioned areas. Please sign your name to confirm.*
