  • Scholarship Application

  • Due to your participation in the Invent2Prevent program, you are eligible to apply for a student scholarship. The DHS Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships will award scholarships up to $5,000 to select students continuing their study of topics related to intelligence and analysis, terrorism, violent extremism, and/or prevention.

    Please note: You must be a United States Citizen to apply for the Invent2Prevent scholarship.

    Instructions for Application:

    1. The deadline for application submission is May 17, 2024. Applications received after this date will NOT be reviewed.
    2. Only completed applications will be considered. DO NOT LEAVE ANY ITEMS BLANK.
    3. Complete the required essay questions.
    4. A signed letter of recommendation from your Invent2Prevent Professor or Academic Advisor must be attached to this application.
    5. The completed application and signed letter of recommendation must be uploaded through the Scholarship section under the Submissions page on the Invent2Prevent program website portal.

    Please note: The essay requirement may be completed in the online form directly or uploaded as a separate document through this page of the program website portal. If completed using the online form, the essay questions must be competed while logged into the portal. You will not be able to save partial responses and return to the form later to complete your responses if you have logged out, closed your browser tab, or quit your browser completely.

    Consideration for any scholarship award is merit-based, and all applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. This scholarship award MUST be applied toward college-level studies that enhances the individual’s ability, knowledge, understanding, or skill set in preventing targeted violence and terrorism. College/university title and intended major(s) must be included in the application for consideration. Depending on the volume of applications, all efforts will be made to announce the scholarship recipients during the Invent2Prevent final competition tentatively scheduled for June 26, 2024.

    This application is also open to students who are actively seeking the opportunity to facilitate an Invent2Prevent program at their academic institution. In order to qualify for consideration, these students must commit to and provide:

    • Name and contact information of a professor willing to act as an academic advisor in support of hosting an Invent2Prevent program on campus.
    • Names of at least two additional students recruited to establish an independent Invent2Prevent team to participate in the program in the next academic term.
