  • St Stephen’s School’s Scholarship program aims to encourage and recognise students in their pursuit of excellence. The annual Scholarships which may be offered include Academic, Home Away from Home (regional students), Music and Community Excellence and are open to current and future students. Future students have to submit an Online Registration for Enrolment.

    Scholarships provide full or part remission of tuition fees for the period of the Scholarship and are usually awarded until the recipient graduates from St Stephen’s School.

    Students who are awarded scholarships are expected to demonstrate exemplary character and behaviour that aligns with the School’s values and recipients are expected to fully participate in the life of the School.

  • MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP

  • 1.  Overview

    St Stephen’s School offers the (1) Instrumental Music Scholarship and (2) Instrument of Need Scholarship to recognise outstanding musicians who have attained a high level of performance on their chosen instrument.

    Scholarships will be up to 100% remission of music tuition fees on one instrument for the duration of their time at St Stephen’s School and the use of a school instrument for the first two years of their scholarship for the (1) Instrumental Music Scholarship, and for the entire duration of their time at St Stephen’s School for the (2) Instrument of Need Scholarship.

    The scholarships are made available to current as well as future St Stephen’s School students commencing in Year 5 and 7. Students will be expected to be a dedicated member of the appropriate school ensembles as decided by the Director of Music. Students will be required to maintain a high level of achievement in their chosen area of music study and be fully supportive and contribute to the musical life of St Stephen’s School.

    Students applying for this scholarship are required to attend a music audition.

    2.  Criteria for Awarding Scholarship

    To be eligible for this Scholarship the applicant must complete and submit:

    1. Online Registration for Enrolment (future students).
    2. Scholarship Application Form.

    Applications requirements

    • Applications are invited from students who have undertaken instrumental studies in relevant musical contexts (classical, jazz or contemporary).
    • The successful applicants will be required to participate in any of the School’s music activities as deemed necessary by the Director of Music.
    • Successful applicants will receive individual lessons on their instrument for the duration of their time at St Stephen’s School.

    Audition requirements

    Performance

    1. Scales - major, harmonic and melodic minor or jazz modes (aeolian, dorian and mixolydian) up to two sharps and two flats.
    2. Two contrasting music pieces (with backing tracks if available).
    3. Sight reading test.
    4. Aural and Theory test.

    Interview

    Student and parent(s) are required to be present for an interview with the Director of Music.

    3. Process for Review and Awarding the Scholarship

    The Principal and Head of Campus, along with the Director of Music, will make the final decision based on the results of the audition and interview. No correspondence will be entered into.

    The School reserves the right to decide whether a scholarship will be awarded.

  • HOME AWAY FROM HOME SCHOLARSHIP

  • 1.  Overview

    St Stephen’s School is delighted to offer this opportunity to students from regional Western Australia to attend St Stephen’s School to form part of the Home Away from Home program.  The HAFH program offers regional secondary students the opportunity to study in the Perth metropolitan area and benefit from a holistic, co-educational independent school education. Students are provided this experience based in a family environment in which to reside, learn, build relationships and be cared for.

    This special scholarship is made available to regional students commencing in Years 7, 8, 9 or 10 with the intention of continuing to Year 12 and a desire to pursue tertiary, apprenticeship or career opportunities beyond school.  Awarded Scholarships will be granted partial (percentage at the Scholarship Committee’s discretion) or full remission of School tuition fees. The costs for Homestay will not be covered by the Scholarship.

    2.  Criteria for Awarding Scholarship

    To be eligible for this Scholarship the applicant must submit the following:

    • Online Registration for Enrolment (future students).
    • Scholarship Application Form.
    • Copies of the two most recent Academic Reports.
    • Latest NAPLAN Report.
    • Summary of achievements outside the classroom.
    • Handwritten letter by the applicant to the Principal outlining their achievements and the reason for their application for a place at St Stephen’s School.
    • Character reference from a teacher, coach or community member who has known the student over time.

    The applicant must be able to demonstrate the following:

    • Admirable efforts in their pursuit of academic achievement.
    • Self-confidence and a positive attitude to learning.
    • Enthusiastic involvement in co-curricular activities.
    • Commitment to community involvement.
    • Good attendance and conduct within the school community and beyond.
    • Commitment to behaviour that aligns with the School’s values.

    3. Process for Review and Awarding the Scholarship

    Each Scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the Principal and Heads of Campuses through:

    • Receive applications.
    • Reviewing and shortlisting of applicant.
    • Shortlisted applicants to attend an interview with the Principal and Heads of Campuses.
    • Awarding of scholarship to successful recipients.

  • COMMUNITY EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIP

  • 1.  Overview

    St Stephen’s School offers this opportunity to students who seek extraordinary opportunities, pathways to personal excellence and a stimulating learning environment who will contribute enthusiastically and wholeheartedly to the St Stephen’s School community.

    Students who can demonstrate enthusiasm, participation, and exceptional commitment to a range of diverse activities including, but not limited to community, leadership, extra-curricular and academic are invited to apply.

    This scholarship is made available to current as well as future St Stephen’s School students commencing in Year 8, 9 or 10 and will be awarded until they graduate in Year 12.  Awarded Scholarships will be granted partial or full remission of School tuition fees.

    An external panel will be responsible to review applications, interview applicants and award scholarships.

    2.  Criteria for Awarding Scholarship

    To be eligible for this Scholarship the applicant must complete and submit the following:

    • Copies of the two most recent Academic Reports.
    • Latest NAPLAN Report.
    • Summary of achievements outside the classroom.
    • Handwritten letter by the applicant to the Principal outlining their achievements and the reason for their application for a place at St Stephen’s School.
    • Character reference from a teacher, coach or community member who has known the student over time.

    The applicant must be able to demonstrate the following to be shortlisted for a scholarship interview:

    • Admirable efforts in their pursuit of academic achievement.
    • Self-confidence and a positive attitude to learning.
    • Enthusiastic involvement in co-curricular activities.
    • Proven commitment to community involvement within 12 months of application.
    • Good attendance and conduct within the school community and beyond.
    • Commitment to behaviour that aligns with the School’s values.

    3. Process for Review and Awarding the Scholarship

    Each Scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of an external panel who will receive, review and shortlist applicants followed by an interview process before their final decision is made.

    The panel’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

    The School reserves the right to decide whether a scholarship will be awarded.
