BreakFree Education is excited to announce the renewal of our Teacher Fellowship program. Designed for teachers working inside juvenile justice facilities, our Teacher Fellowship explores the theme of Engage, Empower, Elevate and brings teachers together to foster engagement with other educators, empower student success, and elevate the classroom learning experience.
The Fellowship includes virtual monthly workshops from November 2026 through April 2027 and an in-person, overnight working retreat in April 2027. Fellows will be paid a $750 stipend as a part of the Fellowship; BreakFree will cover the costs of the overnight retreat.
BreakFree will select 12 teachers who work at schools inside of juvenile justice facilities to participate in the Fellowship.
From November through April, Fellows will participate in six evening virtual workshops to explore purposeful design and planning approaches to lesson building. As part of these workshops, teachers will develop a short educational initiative (3-10 class periods) that supports students in developing curiosity, practicing skills, and mastering concepts within a core content area. Each initiative will be designed using BreakFree Education’s initiative framework and will include a culminating project.
All applications are due Wednesday, September 30, 2026. More information can be found at www.breakfree-ed.org/teacherfellowship.
