AT-LARGE ELIGIBILITY AND QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES - MISS

NOTE: Applicant is prohibited from using the assigned official at-large title prior to state organization approval of application and notification to the applicant that she has been accepted as a contestant in this year's competition. Additionally, approved delegates are prohibited from using the title and wearing regalia immediately after the conclusion of the State Competition.
1. Have a positive, energetic, optimistic, driven attitude that is ready to have fun!
2. Meet all the age eligibility requirements:
The eligible age range for any Miss Delegate Applicant for the current competition year at every level of MAO Miss is 18 to 28 years old. To eliminate any doubt, a Miss contestant must be at least 18 years of age and no older than 28 during the year in which she will compete for the State Finals.
3. Meet all eligibilty guidelines set forth by the Miss America Delegate Contract.
4.a. If you are a current local Miss titleholder, you are prohibited from using an assigned at-large title for the upcoming State Competiton or submitting paperwork for such, until the day after you crown your successor, provided that all fees have been paid.
4.b. If you are eligible to compete in a closed local competition, you must compete in that local prior to submitting an application to become an at-large contestant. (Check your eligibility here: https://www.missoregon.org/become-a-contestant) If you have extenuating circumstances that prevent you from competing locally, please email blaine.barklow@missoregon.org to discuss your eligibility to compete at-large at Miss Oregon.
4.c. If you are planning to compete at either of the Regional competitions or in the Digital Open competition, and you would also like to be considered for an at-large title if you do not receive a title at the aforementioned competitions, you must submit this application no later than April 25, 2025. You should also plan to attend the delegate in-person workshop, as you will either continue on as a regional titleholder or an at-large titleholder.
5. Complete all remaining program and production paperwork and other requirements. Complete information is found in the Miss Contestant's Resource Portal. The link will be provided upon approval of application.
6. Be available for the following mandatory events/dates:
Delegate/Parent/Guardian In-Person Spring Workshop
April 27, 2025 in Coos Bay/North Bend, Oregon
**It is highly recommended that a parent/guardian join the delegate at Workshop.
Miss Oregon & Miss Oregon's Teen Competitions
June 23-28, 2025 in Seaside, Oregon
Delegates will be given the option of a home stay during Miss Oregon Week. If they choose not to stay with a host family, lodging will be the responsibility of the delegate and/or her family. Other expenses are the responsibility of the delegate and/or her family.
Miss America & Miss America's Teen Competitions
Official Competition Dates: September, 2025 (specific dates TBA)
Location: TBA
Entry fee and airfare of Miss Oregon provided by the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program. Lodging and meals during travel days and the required competition days are provided. Lodging and meals for dates prior to the official check-in or after the official check-out is the responsibility of Miss Oregon and/or her family.
Submit the non-refundable participation fee of $500.00. Need a payment plan? Email us at directors@missoregon.org with "At-Large Contestant Payment Plan" in the subject line and we'll see what we can work out.
Included with your non-refundable participation fee is:
- Official Miss Oregon title and Miss America sash embroidered with at-large title (title to be determined by the state organization).
- 2025 Spring Delegate Workshop fee.
- Entry to compete in the 2025 Miss Oregon Competition.
- Entrance into any ticketed events held during the 2025 Miss Oregon Competition.
- Entrance to the 2025 Miss Oregon's Teen Competition. Miss Contestants will be given specific reserved seating.
- Entrance to the Awards Brunch held during Miss Oregon Competition week.
- Appearance in the 2025 Miss Oregon Parade.
A crown is not included with the participation fee. If you would like to purchase one, you can indicate so below.
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS POST APPLICATION APPROVAL:
- Collect sponsors for A MINIMUM OF ONE MANDATORY PROGRAM BOOK AD PAGES. Ad pages are $400 each. Ad pages beyond the first will earn the at-large delegate additional monies to offset competition expenses. Information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. - Provide a mandatory silent auction basket to be auctioned off during the state competition. Information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
- All competition wardrobe is the sole responsibility of the delegate. This includes: interview, talent, evening gown, off night evening gown (not required), required production wardrobe, media tour outfit, official headshot outfit, and clean/appropriate shoes and accessories for each wardrobe change listed. - Be committed to volunteering within your community. Provide an official Community Service Initiative Statement outlining and detailing your chosen social cause and what you have done and will do to support this cause during your year of service. This will be used during your interview portion of competition. To be submitted within the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
- Create a Fact Sheet that will be used during your interview portion of competition. To be submitted within the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
- Prepare a 90-second talent presentation that may be publicized by the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program. Further information to be found in the contestant's resource portal. Link available upon application approval.
- Fundraise for the American Heart Association and Miss America's Scholarship Foundation via Spotfund.com. Each state delegate must raise $300. Additional information available within the contestant's resource portal.
- Recruit a Shining Star (aged 5 to 12) to participate in Miss Oregon's Shining Star program during the 2025 Miss Oregon Competition. Additional information will be provided at the Delegate Workshop.
- Participate in all other fundraising activities and/or events in support of the Miss Oregon Scholarship Program or Oregon Legacy Scholarship Foundation.
