Course Outline

• Learn how to DJ the original and classic way with Vinyl Records on Technics Turntables
• Get to know your equipment properly from the turntables to the mixer and monitors to understand how it all works together
• Group training environment, watch & learn from your instructor, then follow, build confidence, encourage others, work as an individual as well as part of a team (capped at 4 ppl maximum)
• Learn all aspects, basics and fundamentals of how to DJ, broken up into short and sharp segments (Beat Matching, using pitch control slider, how to cue and release a record, making physical adjustments to manually sync the mix, dropping beats, scratching, using the mixer channel faders vs crossfader, adjusting EQ's and much more)
• Hands on training, play and learn as you go, building fast and progressive results along the way throughout the day
• How to string together all the segments learnt to execute and perfect a beat mix and transition from track to track.
• Music Knowledge exploring various Music Genres from House, Techno, Trance, Rave and Harder Styles of Electronic Dance Music and even a little bit of Hip Hop and Break Beat styles to really cover it all especially with learning beat dropping and scratch techniques. Group can discuss preferred genres to work with more closely on the day of the course.
• Perform a DJ set behind the decks to your student peers to show what you've learnt from the training, pat yourself and others on the back for a job well done
• DJ Marketing & Branding 101 - Step-by-step basic guide on how to promote yourself, build your brand, develop an audience and fanbase and get the gig
• Walk away with the skills, knowhow and tools to play vinyl records on turntables after you receive a Vinyl Mixing DJ Academy Course Graduation Certificate and an exclusive FREE DJ Academy T-Shirt (only available to students)

Who Is This Course Best Suited To?

This course is designed for beginners to intermediate in mind with no previous DJ experience necessary. You will learn all that you need to know to start your journey as a DJ. By learning on Vinyl Turntables you will also gain an advantage and respect of the craft of DJing by understanding how to mix music together by ear and hand along with the skills required to do so effectively. Easily transferrable to other DJ formats such as digital if that's where it leads you to. If you already have some DJ experience playing on digital setups like CDJ's, Controllers etc you are welcome to do this course however 1 To 1 training may be more suited to you but in saying that you will gain some new knowledge and insight's on how different it is to play Vinyl Records plus you're also getting all the additional benefits, extras, opportunities and ongoing DJ support by doing this course. Most importantly all participants are welcome to just come along with a good attitude to learn, experiment and have fun learning the original Art & Craft of Vinyl Mixing with Records on Turntables.

Meet Your Instructor

Your Instructor who needs little introduction is none other than Vinyl Mixing DJ Academy founder NIK FISH who's been a leading DJ in the Australian Electronic Dance Music scene for over 30 Years having played thousands of hours on Vinyl Turntables at thousands of shows throughout his career. He has won numerous awards over the years including ranking in the Top 5 DJ's in Australia, 5 years in a row for the ITM Top 50 DJ Awards. Nik has founded this DJ Academy out of his passion and dedication to vinyl mixing with the purpose of keeping the interest in Vinyl Mixing alive and to give people the opportunity to learn this original way of DJing, especially the next generation of aspiring DJ's. He has also previously worked as a DJ Instructor for the legendary DMC Organisation teaching people (funnily enough) to mix Vinyl Records on Turntables. Safe to say, you're in the very best of hands on the decks!

Terms & Conditions

1. Please note minimum age for students is 16yrs and over (one parent/guardian may accompany registered students aged 16 - 18yrs) please add in the comments section if a parent/guardian will be attending with registered student
2. Registration for this course is considered booked and confirmed upon full payment of course fee.
3. If the course you registered for is unavailable you will be offered a new date, or you can receive a full refund.
4. As numbers are limited to only 4 students per group, class refunds for cancellations for whatever reason may incur a fee.
5. Cancellation fees vary within certain time frames.
6. Cancel before 21 days of course start date you will receive full refund. After that you will be charged 25% of the full course fee if you cancel before 14 days prior to start of course date.
7. Cancel 14 days from start of course date but not less than 7 days from commencement of course date you will be charged 50% of the course fee.
8. Cancel 7 days or less prior to start of course date you will be charged 100% full course fee.
9. These cancellation fees are fair as the closer a cancellation occurs to start of course date the less likely your spot can be filled and there are certain running costs to host this course that need to be met.
10. In the event somebody fills your spot for your course that you cancelled you may be entitled to a full refund, but this will be at the discretion of the academy administrator under the rules of fair play.
11. Any student displaying intentionally disruptive, hostile, menacing, intimidating, aggressive, bullying, or similar types of behaviour towards anyone at the course will be immediately asked to leave the course and the premises with no chance of completing the course or receiving a refund or post course inclusions
12. Each individual student will have their own learning curve, style, and ability. There are no guarantees that a student will graduate with the ability to DJ professionally but what a student will gain is a knowledge base and be given clear demonstration and instruction on the skills required to hone the craft and to learn to DJ on the equipment used during the course.
13. Additional conditions may apply that are enforceable under Australian consumer law
