Her Haven of Light encourages the participation of volunteers who support our mission. Our mission is to provide women in unforeseen circumstances a safe place to land with the resources they need to get back on their feet. Her Haven is a Resource Center that serves the women of Johnston County. It's a safe place for women to land to get the resources and directions they need to flourish. We assist without enabling through extending our hands in love and offering a hand up to help them form a plan of action and find hope again. We provide a healthy, loving and sincere place of refuge to help bring restoration and peace to those in need. This resource center is here to empower women to walk in confidence as they thrive in their today and find freedom in tomorrow.

Connie Shop Organization:
Help maintain a welcoming and organized boutique by sorting, organizing, and managing inventory. Volunteers may also assist with coordinating community drives to collect new supplies for our clients and their children when needed.
Office Support Volunteers:
Provide behind-the-scenes support through administrative tasks, event preparation, fundraising assistance, support group help, and phone outreach. This role is ideal for those who enjoy flexible, task-based volunteering.
Support Group Leaders:
Facilitate support group sessions after you've attended and completed the 12 week group yourself. This group maintains confidentiality and trust, providing emotion support (not therapy).
Fundraising Team:
Assist with planning and coordinating fundraising events, or host a fundraiser on behalf of Her Haven of Light to support our programs and services.
Donor & Sponsorship Outreach:
Support the sustainability of our mission by making phone calls to secure donations and local business sponsorships. Training and talking points are provided, and every call directly impacts the families we serve.
Outreach Events:
Join us for quarterly outreach events where we serve and support the needs of the community.
Card Ministry:
Send professional, heartfelt thank-you cards to donors and sponsors, expressing appreciation for their generosity and support.
Grounds Keeping:
Responsible for maintaining the exterior of the property, including cutting grass, pulling weeds, power washing the office, and removing trash.
Resource Connection:
If you have a connection to a mechanic, lawyer, realtor, HVAC company, or other professionals who could support our clients by offering services at no cost or at a reduced rate. You can connect us with these resources so we're able to provide our clients with the support they need.

Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers who interact with clients must complete a training period with a team member.
All volunteers who meet with clients must understand that we are faith based and do not turn anyone away based on their beliefs or gender.
Volunteer Training:
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, all volunteers who interact with clients must be thoroughly trained to ensure each client is served with excellence and confidentiality, in compliance with HIPAA requirements. Volunteers will train alongside staff and experienced volunteers.
All volunteers who interact with clients must complete a background check. The $20 fee is paid by the volunteer.
Our team will walk closely with each volunteer to determine readiness for independent volunteering. This process is essential to maintaining compassionate and high-quality care to our clients.
