Ballot for Low-Income Representation
Opportunities for Otsego has four (4) candidates on the ballot for the 2023-2024 term. Check the boxes below to select your candidate(s) of choice. You may vote for as many candidates as your wish.
At least one third of the Opportunities for Otsego Board of Directors shall be representatives of the Low Income Sector and shall be persons chosen in accordance with democratic selection procedures adequate to assure that they are representative of a low income constituency in Otsego County or with any reasonable and democratic selection procedure which assures maximum feasible participation. A low-income individual, community organization, or religious organization, or representative of low-income individuals that considers its organization, or low-income individuals, to be inadequately represented on the board (or other mechanism) of the eligible entity may petition for adequate representation.
Fanny Clements has been on the Opportunities for Otsego Board of Directors since January of 2019 representing the Head Start Policy Council as its president. She is a staunch advocate for low income families and their children. She also volunteers in many charitable activities in her community
Melinda Murdock currently serves on the Opportunities for Otsego Board of Directors and represents the low-income families and students at the Riverside Elementary School. The Riverside Elementary School has the highest rate of poverty in the Oneonta City School District and she has many years of experience working with low income children and families in her school and the district.
Lisa Samols is the Executive Development Editor for High School Media at Macmillan Learning. Through her job, Lisa has been able to express her passion for helping students learn how to be responsible citizens, providing instructors with the tools and education they need to help students achieve their goals, and communicating science. Outside of work, Lisa's interests include music, having participated in community bands over the years, as well as art, including stained glass and metalwork in jewelry-making. Lisa has served as Opportunities for Otsego Board President for the past year
Lorrie Wolverton currently serves on the Opportunities for Otsego Board of Directors . She formerly represented the patients at the Oneonta Community Health Center. She has many years of experience working with low income and migrant families with specialty in early childhood education
