  • Dr. Bolanle Adegboyega.
    Oncologist.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.



    Dr Bolanle Adegboyega is a Consultant Radiation and Clinical Oncologist at the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre with close to 20 years experience of treating cancer patients. She is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria and she had her residency training at the Lagos University Teaching hospital, Idi-araba, Lagos, Nigeria.

    Dr. Adegboyega is a fellow of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and West African College of Surgeons and a certificate holder in Leadership in Health management and Epidemiology from the University of Washington. Her special interest is in female cancers, genitourinary cancers, adolescent cancers and palliative care. She has authored over 20 publications. She is a member of Association of Radiation and Clinical Oncologist in Nigeria (ARCON), the American Society of Clinical Oncologist (ASCO), and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

     

  • Dr. Chidiebere Agbakwuru.
    Oncologist.

    Dr. Chidiebere Iheanyi Agbakwuru is a board certified Fellow in Clinical and Radiation Oncology in the West African College of Surgeons & the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. Dr. Agbakwuru did his medical training at the University of Nigeria, Enugu, his junior residency programme at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and his senior residency at the then newly inaugurated NSIA-LUTH Cancer Center.


    With special interest in Gastro-intestinal, Pediatric & Gynaecological cancers, Dr. Agbakwuru is driven by his passion for healthcare and has established a blossoming and rapidly expanding clinical enterprise.


    Away from clinical duties, Dr. Agbakwuru devotes time and talent to volunteer work, patient support, and the art of innovation in the delivery of quality healthcare while at the Center.

     

  • Dr. Aje Eben Adepitan
    Oncologist.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.

     

    Aje Eben Adepitan is board-certified, a Radiation and Clinical Oncologist with the West African College of Surgeons and the Medical College of Radiologists in Nigeria. 

    He had his basic medical training at the illustrious College of Medicine the University of Ilorin and had his internship following. He also had an MBA from the business school of the same university.

    Aje Eben Adepitan is compassionate, attentive, kind, and dedicated with close to 20 years of medical practice experience spanning from general medical practice, management of acute medical emergencies, and clinical oncology practice. He is proficient in 3D/ IMRT/chemotherapy treatment of various malignancies. He is a researcher with special interest in Head and Neck cancer treatment and molecular genetics of cancers.

    He is a leader par excellence and a good team player. He is passionate about cancer care with prevention and public awareness as his main interest. 

     

     

  • Dr. Emmanuel Temitope Andero.
    Oncologist.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.

     

    Dr Emmanuel Temitope Andero is a Clinical and radiation oncologist at the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre., which is known for its excellence in cancer care. He has practiced oncology (or in oncology space) for many years with several local and international trainings.  His expertise and experience in cancer management span across all solid tumours. For Dr Andero, oncology practice is more of a passion than a career. His empathetic spirit and good communication endeared him to his teeming patients and referrals.

    He is very intentional about his oncology practice in such a way that it would positively impact the quality of life of his patients and their overall disease outcomes and survival. He is also known for his dedication to his job and an excellent relationship with his patients and team members.

     

    Dr Andero's main goal is the reduction in the local and global cancer burden. This he believes is possible through good practice and more concerted efforts in the areas of creating more awareness and enlightenment programmes; for cancer screening and preventions, then early detection, appropriate treatment, and cancer research.

     

  • Dr. Adedayo Joseph.
    Oncologist and Director of Research.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.

    Dr. Joseph is a Clinical Radiation Oncologist and the Research Program Director of NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre. Dr. Joseph is committed to ensuring that people living with cancer in Nigeria receive the best standards of care available globally.

    She is a community oncologist with expertise in the management of cancers that are most common in people of West African origin: breast, prostate, colorectal, gynecological, and head & neck malignancies.

    She has established herself as the go-to for pediatric radiation services with her extensive work with children living with cancer in Nigeria.

    She is the author of the book: Cancer in Children - the first handbook written for caregivers and healthcare professionals living and working with children diagnosed with cancer.

  • Dr. Muhammad Yaqub Habeebu
    Head of Oncology
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.

    Dr. Habeebu is the Head of the Radiotherapy Department of NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre. He graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (Radiology) in 2007.

    He has had expansive international training in Radiation Oncology in Tunisia, South Africa, and Kenya (sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency). He is a member of the Quality Assurance Team for Radiation Oncology in Nigeria (QUATRO).

    He is a lecturer at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and an Honorary Consultant with Lagos University Teaching Hospital.

  • Dr. Adewumi Alabi.
    Oncologist.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.


    Dr. Adewumi Alabi is a consultant clinical and radiation oncologist at the NSIA-Lagos University Teaching Hospital Cancer Centre (NLCC) and also a Lecturer at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria. She is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. She is also an IAEA fellow from Stellenbosch University/Tygerberg Hospital, Cape town, South Africa.

    Dr. Alabi specialises in the treatment of adult solid tumours with special interest in prostate, breast and gynaecological cancer using the latest radiation technology - including Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Volumetric Arc Radiotherapy (VMAT), and High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy. She also has several years of experience using chemotherapeutic agents, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

    Dr. Alabi has helped write institutional guidelines and departmental protocols using internationally accepted best practice guidelines. She lectures undergraduate, postgraduate and paramedics in oncology. She is a member of the African Organisation in Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC), American Society of Clinical Oncology(ASCO), Prostate Cancer Transatlantic Consortium (CaPTC), International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS), Association of Clinical and Radiation Oncologist in Nigeria (ARCON), and several other national organisations.

    She is actively involved in cancer advocacy and education. She has a passion for clinical research with a focus on finding the best treatment for cancer, quality of life, and issues related to cancer survivorship. In addition, She has received many research grants, and has published several international and local articles in peer-reviewed journals, including top journals such as Journal of Clinical Oncology and RED Journal. Dr. Alabi is an investigator in an ongoing clinical trial ARETTA - Assessing response of breast cancer patients to treatment.

  • Dr. Anthonia Sowunmi.

    Dr. Anthonia C. Sowunmi, is a pioneer female clinical and radiation oncologist in Nigeria of about 20 years experience in the oncology environment. She is a lecturer and a consultant radiation and clinical oncologist with the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and University Teaching Hospital, Lagos, Nigeria, respectively.

    She is a fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCR), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA-Fellow) and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC fellow).

    She is a member of many professional bodies both home and abroad such as the Association of Radiation & Clinical Oncology of Nigeria (ARCON), Association of Radiologists of West Africa (ARAWA), Association of Radiologist in Nigeria(ARIN), American Society of Clinical Oncology(ASCO), African Organization for Research & Training in Cancer (AORTIC) and the African Radiation Oncology Group (AFROG).

    She has regularly published peer-reviewed and indexed journals in collaboration with some renowned researchers both at home and abroad and has over 40 publications. She has been privileged to do a lot of work on advocacy and cancer care. This has given her the opportunity to identify some of the major challenges associated with early diagnosis, prevention and treatment for cancer.

  • Dr. Godwin Uwagba.
    Oncologist.
    NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre.


    Dr. Godwin Uwagba earned his graduate medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Benin, Edo State, Nigeria in 2000 and became a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2015.

    He holds a Leadership and Management Certificate in Health Management from the University of Washington and also has a Certificate in patient-centred care, medical oncology, drug access, radiation oncology, research management and leadership.

    He has had various trainings within and outside the country on the advancement of radiation oncology which include 2D to 3D contouring in Cape Town, South Africa and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT 2.0) by Rayos Contra Cancer, USA.

    Dr. Uwagba worked as a full-time Consultant Radiation and Clinical Oncologist at Asi Ukpo Diagnostic and Medical Centre (ADMC), Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria before joining NSIA-LUTH Cancer Centre in 2019. He is a member of the Association of Radiation and Clinical Oncologist in Nigeria (ARCON), the American Society of Clinical Oncologist (ASCO), and Nigerian Medical Association (NMA). His passion is in Head and Neck, Prostate, Breast, Gastrointestinal and Gynaecologic Cancers.
