Coaches will be required to conduct three practical sessions on course:
    1. Ongoing Assessment 1 - Principle Based General Practice (20 minutes) delivered and filmed by you at your club with your players
    2. Ongoing Assessment 2 - Principle Based Specific Practice into an SSG (10 minutes specific into a 15 mknute SSG) delivered and flimed by you at your club with your players
    3. Ongoing Assessment 3 - Principle Based Lead in Practice (General or Specific) into SSG (25 minutes in total) This will be attended by your mentor / assessor face to face.

Coaches must spend a minimum of 15 minutes within the SSG which is UEFA Criteria during OA3.

Your assessments will have to be organised and undertaken by the coach at the coaches discretion and cost. This will need to be filmed from a gantry with a wide angle camera with audio. Both video and audio will need to be of the required quality where both are clear for an assessor to provide an assessment decision. We will only accept the above at our own discretion.

  • Coursework

The coaches coursework needs to be clear and logical providing sufficient information to demonstrate understanding. The coach will need to provide detailed evidence of the application of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological and Social skills and development within the current working environment of the Candidates.

    • Coursework of the required standard should provide:
    • A detailed and comprehensive diary of activities implementing Technical, Tactical, Physical, Social and Psychological considerations.
    • Demonstrate an understanding and recognise the value of Intervention Strategies providing evidence of planning, preparation and evaluation/reflection of activities.
    • Show an awareness of the inter connected nature of Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological and Social issues in football via practical examples and associated development.
    • All coursework is to be uploaded to your personal space for review by your course mentor who will be allocated during the course. Further instructions will be provided by the Course Director on how you will complete the coursework required.
    • Online Module Tasks and Coaching Activities will need to be completed in full by the date as set out by the Course Director during "The Journey So Far" presentations at the end of each contact. Any coursework submitted but not completed to a required standard will have to be resubmitted within the deadline stipulated in your Ongoing Assessment document. Please try to keep up with your coursework as per the timescales communicated by your course director. This is the requirement at L3 where you take more responsibility as a coach for your own learning and development

    Reassessment

Coaches who do not meet the Ongoing Assessment criteria on-course have a further 2 opportunities to pass the practical element of the course. These reassessments will have tobe organised and undertaken by the coach at the coaches discretion and cost. This will need to be filmed from a gantry with a wide angle camera with audio. Both video and audio will need to be of the required quality where both are clear for an assessor to provide an assessment decision. We will only accept the above at our own discretion, the coach may be asked to perform any reassessment again should the final footage not meet the required standards as noted above

Alternatively, The FAW run a number of internal re-assessment days throughout each year, where we are responsible for providing the venue, players and equipment. These dates will be communicated on your course but can be booked on available dates at www.fawcourses.com

  • Terms of Validation

The FAW/UEFA B, Coaching Goalkeepers coaching licence is valid from the date the corresponding UEFA coaching diploma is completed until 31st December three calendar years later.

(E.g., if the UEFA coaching diploma is completed in May 2022, the licence is valid from May 2022 to 31st December 2025).

Within the validity period all coaches should undergo a process of revalidation if awards are to be retained. Revalidation will incorporate attendance on an FAW recognised revalidation course. At the time of writing this is at our National Coaching Conference we run annually, usually in May. Specific details regarding such courses are advertised on www.fawcourses.com If you don't manage to revalidate your Goalkeeping B Licence within the three-year period, you won't lose it, but it will become 'inactive'. You can become "active' again by attending and revalidating at the next available national coaches conference without having to be re-assessed.

    Appeals Procedure

Should the coaches Ongoing Assessment prove unsuccessful the Appeals Procedure is as follows:

Coaches must appeal in writing and be received by the FAW Coach EducationTeam within 14 working days of the date on the Final Assessment Decision letter.

    Please include the following information:

If an ongoing assessment/examination is to be retaken, the appeals body may fix a deadline for the re-sit.
