• Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Macronutrient Calculators

Use this form to help learn about, estimate, and determine individual energy needs. Weight management is a key piece of any cancer prevention or supervision case. Oversight of a metabolically healthy weight loss or weight gain protocol should be overseen by a qualified metabolic Oncology Nutrition Consultant (ONC). These calculations are not intended to assess or provide diagnostic energy needs in the acute or critically ill.
  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) Calculator

Basal metabolism refers to the metabolic activities required to maintain life sustaining bio-regulatory processes including body temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, red blood cell production, digestion, detoxification, and more. BMR is the rate at which the body expends energy (aka calories) to sustain these processes. Rates vary from person to person, and several factors can impact BMR, including age, gender, current weight, internal and external temperatures, stress, malnutrition, hormones, nutrition status and exercise level. Determining BMR identifies the daily caloric requirement to maintain current weight.

  • ONI NDKD Recommendations

The Oncology Nutrition Institute (ONI) recommends a Nutrient Dense Ketogenic Diet (NDKD) composed of approximately 80% anti-inflammatory fats, 15% high quality animal protein, and 5% bioactive carbohydrates. The following is a personalized breakdown of daily calorie and macronutrient gram targets based on above BMR and activity level (Harris Benedict Formula Results).
