  • Amplify's Virtual Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Tutoring Program

Tutoring at each school will take place 3 days per week, 30 minutes per session. The majority of tutoring groups will be scheduled in consecutive time blocks between 3:00-4:30p PST, although some sessions may occur before school (7-8a PST) or extend beyond 4:30p PST. We are looking for people who are interested in teaching multiple groups between 3:00-4:30p PST on the days when they are scheduled.

Tutors who serve for the full school year (through the week of June 5, 2023) will be considered for a bonus. It is important that students have a consistent tutor, with minimal substitutions, so please consider that when sharing your availability.

  • Do you agree to the following requirements of this opportunity?

    1. Being fingerprinted, background checked, and cleared by the CA Department of Justice. Amplify will provide instructions and cover fingerprinting costs.

    2. Completing 25 hours of initial onboarding. The onboarding will include an asynchronous course and live synchronous sessions.

    3. Using data-driven, scripted lessons that are designed to be delivered to small groups of students in 30 minutes.

    4. Reviewing and internalizing the lesson before each session, estimated to take approximately 30 minutes per session.

    5. Engaging in ongoing professional development and coaching, including two synchronous trainings per month on average after tutoring has commenced. Professional development will be scheduled outside of tutoring session hours.

    6. Participating in up to four 15-minute coaching observation debriefs per year. Tutors will be paid for each 15-minute segment at a prorated rate.

    7. Having a quiet, stable, professional location from which to tutor virtually; ideally, the space will look like the corner of a classroom or office.
