2023 Resident Program Application

Thank you for your interest in the FRFD Resident Program.

Please read the following carefully before starting your application.

 

2023 Resident Program will begin August 2023.

Applications are due March 31st, 2023.

Prior to starting the application process, we recommend a thorough review of the application's pages in order to prepare the necessary documents and information.

Once you begin, you may save progress at the bottom of each page. To enable this feature, you must enter your email address.

Prior to submitting, we recommend you thoroughly review your application.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

A 24-hour in station ride along is required. This can be scheduled at any time before or after submitting your application but must be completed no later than March 31st, 2023.

Candidates will be selected by April 15th, 2023.

Please review the Position Description prior to answering the following questions.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: Please upload a document that lists your work experience beginning with your present or most recent job. Include military service and any volunteer or other unpaid work which has provided experience and skills that would help you qualify. For each job/employer, provide the following (note this document is required and is separate from your resume):

1. Employer name & address
2. Supervisor name & title
3. May we contact this employer? (Y/N)
4. Job title
5. Full time, part time, paid, volunteer, etc.
6. Reason for leaving
7. Starting date, ending date, hours per week, salary
8. Description of duties, detailing knowledge, skills, abilities required, employees supervised, accomplishments.

The following four questions apply for any employment, volunteer position, or internship you may have ever held.

Complete and submit an Entrance Essay

Essay should be a minimum of 1 page, maximum of 2 pages, and cover the following topics:

 

1. Why are you interested in pursuing a career in fire/ems?

 

2. How do you think the FRFD/Helena College program will assist you in your career/professional development?

 

3. What can you contribute to the FRFD/Helena College program that may leave a lasting impact on the program after you graduate?

Official High School/Equivalency Transcript

You must provide an official high school/equivalency transcript to complete your application. The transcript must be provided directly to FRFD in a school sealed envelope or mailed directly from the school to FRFD Station 1:
